Financial results of socially responsible companies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange

The socially responsible companies expect to see improvement of their reputation, an increase in customer loyalty and - in the long perspective - also better financial results. The international studies are ambiguous as regards the correlation between CSR and financial results. The goal of the article is to determine whether in case of the companies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange, it is possible to ascertain profitability of CSR activities. The article proposes a hypothesis that the financial results of the companies involved in corporate social responsibility undertakings are better than other companies. The analysis covered the companies from the three most numerous sectors on the RESPECT index, including only companies, which have been on the index for at least 5 years and for which it was possible to find a control group (companies comparable in terms of size and business activity not belonging to the index RESPECT). The analysis results are not explicit, however, they indicate to the fact that the proposed hypothesis is not positively verified in case of the analysed companies.

W ścisłych doświadczeniach polowych z pszenicą ozimą oceniano ekonomiczne efekty stosowania nawozów płynnych, w tym nawozów zawiesinowych typu NPK, wytwarzanych w Stacji Nawozów Płynnych w Łagiewnikach Średzkich. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych trzyletnich badań stwierdzono, że forma stosowanego nawożenia (nawozy płynne oraz nawozy stałe pojedyncze i wieloskładnikowe) wyraźnie różnicowała koszty bezpośrednie, a zwłaszcza koszty nawożenia wraz z aplikacją. W technologii z nawozami płynnymi (nawozy zawiesinowe przedsiewnie i RSM pogłównie) były one około 17% niższe w porównaniu z technologią z nawozami stałymi pojedynczymi. Najwyższą wartość dodatkową wyrażoną w dt ziarna liczoną w stosunku do obiektu ze stałymi nawozami pojedynczymi (przedsiewnie nawozy stałe pojedyncze + pogłównie saletra amonowa) uzyskano na nawozach płynnych (przedsiewnie nawozy zawiesinowe + pogłównie saletra amonowa) - wynosiła ona 12,5 dt ziarna pszenicy ozimej.

Evaluation of the economic aspects of the application of liquid fertilizer, including suspension fertilizers (NPK type) produced by Liquid Fertilizer Station in Łagiewniki Średzkie, was conducted using strict experiments with winter wheat. On the basis of performed three-years-long studies it was found that the form of fertilizer (liquid fertilizer and solid fertilizer) significantly differentiated directly costs. In the case of technology in which liquid fertilizers (before-sowing suspension fertilizers and UAN dressing) that were - ca. 20% lower when comparing with the technology involving single solid fertilizers. The highest surplus value, expressed as dt of seeds in the single solid fertilizer object, was obtained on liquid fertilizers and was 12.5 dt of seed winter wheat.
