Usefulness of computer graphics applications in design work on complex lighting systems

In the paper, two examples of use of computer tools in design work on lighting systems covering complex catoptric systems of lighting fittings and extensive illumination systems are presented. In both cases, application of numerical calculation methods allows to analyze large numbers of test rays reflected from optically active surface of the catoptric element or from the object's elevation. As a result of such approach, it becomes possible to develop catoptric elements realizing precisely predetermined lighting tasks and create illumination arrangements meeting specific aesthetic criteria.
