The preparation of goethite by oxidation with air oxygen of the solution of iron (II) sulfate - waste from the titanium dioxide production was carried out at different temperatures at the pH equal 3.5. The oxidation was carried out in the circulatory U-tube reactor enabling a good control of the process condition. The prepared samples of goethite were investigated using the X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (composition), the powder X-ray diffractometry (crystal structure) and thermogravimetry (goethite thermal transformations). The size distribution of goethite particles was determined by the transmission electron microscopy. It has been established that the rate of iron (II) oxidation and goethite precipitation, although it is a complex process, can be described by the zero order equation. The thermal transformations of the precipitated goethite have been investigated. The goethite prepared from waste iron (II) sulfate by an oxidative precipitation method can be used as a semiproduct for the production of iron oxide pigments. This process can be used as a method for the utilization of waste iron sulfate which is obtained as a by-product in the titanium dioxide technology.
