The paper provides a review of the state of knowledge based on the available literature. The advantages and limitations of the glue application method are presented. The focus is placed on bonding parts of mass transit seating systems i. e. seating systems for public transport vehicles. The currently used system of glue application on the parts of seating systems is described. There is also an overview of other available techniąues used for application of glue on various substrates. The need of automation of the process of glue application on the surfaces of seating parts is demonstrated and the requirements for the desired performance of the system are given. There are two process automation concepts presented in the paper. They are assessed and the more favourable option is chosen.

W artykule przedstawiono przegląd stanu wiedzy w dostępnej literaturze. Wskazano zalety oraz ograniczenia stosowania technologii klejenia. Uwagę skupiono na klejeniu elementów siedzeń przeznaczonych do pojazdów komunikacji zbiorowej. Omówiono stosowany obecnie sposób nanoszenia kleju na powierzchnie elementów siedzeń. Następnie przytoczono inne istniejące rozwiązania pozwalające na pokrywanie różnych powierzchni klejem. Wskazano na zasadność automatyzacji procesu nanoszenia kleju na powierzchnie elementów siedzeń oraz wymieniono zadania warunkujące poprawność pracy urządzenia. Przedstawiono dwie koncepcje automatycznej realizacji omawianego procesu. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy dokonano wyboru jednej z nich.
