Eco-innovations under conditions of glocalization of economic and sustainable development of the regional economy

The aim of the study is to indicate the essence and increasing importance of the ecologization of innovative development in the glocalization of economic processes as well as the potential benefits of eco-innovation for long-term objectives of regions development. The study systematize the knowledge on this topic, and indicate the necessity of their continuous development. The applied methodology is based on an analysis of scientific literature European countries. The research methodology is systematization of approaches to the direction of innovation processes for the development, creation and implementation of innovations in the form of new products, technology, method, form of production organization, etc., which directly or indirectly contributes to reducing the environmentally destructive effects of production and consumption on the environment and solving environmental problems. The authors hypothesis is that the glocalization on the basis of the implementation of environmental innovations will contribute to the sustainable development of the economy of the regions. This is a new way of looking at the region development, i.e. that looks at how ecologization of innovative development should be used for strategic advantage of region and how processes of ecologization of innovative development of the region can be a catalyst for the processes of market glocalization and promote sustainable development of the regional economy.

Uber Technologies, Inc. to międzynarodowa korporacja „parataksówkarska” posiadająca globalny zasięg, ale uwzględniająca lokalne warunki. Korporacja funkcjonuje w 65 państwach i przeszło 600 miastach na całym świecie, zwiększając jednocześnie udziały w rożnych, niezagospodarowanych dotąd rynkach. Warunkiem istotnym dla zwiększania tego zasięgu, jest konieczność zastosowania podejścia glokalnego, czyli dostosowania modelu biznesowego firmy do wymagań i preferencji lokalnych rynków oraz jego użytkowników, poprzez m.in. dywersyfikację oferty o nowe aplikacje, także o charakterze niszowym. Produkty oparte na technologii Uber dostępne są bowiem pod różnymi markami, np.: UberTAXI, UberRUSH, UberFRESH, UberEATS. Holistyczny model biznesowy korporacji, wyniki finansowe, a także alianse i współpraca z innymi firmami high-tech dowodzą, że Uber Technologies skoncentrowane jest na realizacji podejścia grobalnego: rozwoju, wzroście oraz zwiększaniu udziału w rynku globalnym.

Uber Technologies Inc. is an international taxi-like corporation with a global reach, but taking into account local conditions. The corporation operates in 80 countries and more than 500 cities around the world and at the same time it increases shares in different, undeveloped before markets. An important condition for increasing the global reach is the glocal approach, that is adapting the business model to the requirements and preferences of local markets and its users, by for example diversification of the offer with new applications, including the niche ones. The products based on Uber technology are available under various brand names, such as: UberTAXI, UberRUSH, UberFRESH, UberEATS. A holistic business model, financial performance, as well as alliances and cooperation with other high-tech companies show that Uber Technologies is focused on the implementation of the grobal approach: the development, growth and increasing shares in global market.

It is necessary to understand globalisation as a long-term process of the reciprocal convergence of the various interests of people on the planet at all the levels of social life. It is a process which is predominantly cultural, economic and political. On the other hand, there are also local interests of people that may be incompatible with globalisation. The process of “glocalisation” could represent some solution: i.e. the interconnection of global and local. This study deals with the both positive and negative phenomena of globalisation process.

Konieczne jest, aby rozumieć globalizację jako proces długo-falowego wzajemnego zbliżenia różnych interesów ludzi na naszej planecie na wszystkich poziomach życia społecznego. Z jednej strony jest to proces przede wszystkim kulturowy, gospodarczy i polityczny. Z drugiej strony, są też lokalne interesy osób, które mogą być niezgodne z globalizacją. Proces "glokalizacji" może stanowić pewne rozwiązanie, czyli wzajemne połączenia globalne i lokalne. Artykuł przedstawia zarówno pozytywne jak i negatywne zjawiska globalizacji.

Globalizacja jest pojęciem płynnym, którego treści zmieniają się wraz z praktyką społeczną. Dziś da się wyróżnić dwa jej zasadnicze kierunki, które pozostają z sobą w ewidentnej sprzeczności. Pierwszy z nich zmierza do ujednolicenia społeczeństw w skali świata według wzorca, który sprawdza się z w krajach rozwiniętych. Ten typ globalizacji autor nazywa miejskim. Drugi typ globalizacji (glokalizacja) nazwany wiejskim zakłada pielęgnowanie istniejących różnic. Dopiero gdy drogi obu globalizacji przetną się może powstać nowa jakość, społeczeństwo planetarne. Globalizacja winna sprzyjać rozwiązywaniu i zażegnywaniu powstałych zagrożeń. W sferze ekologii już się dokonuje, czego świadectwem są choćby ustalenia Szczytu Ziemi w Rio de Janerio oraz konferencji w Kioto. Proces ten nabiera tempa przez to, iż nierozwiązane problemy ekologiczne zaczynają zagrażać globalizacji dokonującej się w sferze ekonomicznej. W skali całego świata zagrożenia nie są podobne, gdyż zagrożenia światów nadmiaru i niedostatku są wyraźnie odmienne. Glokalizacja stwarza zagrożenia głównie dla ciała, a globalizacja głównie dla ducha ludzkiego. Ideą spajającą wszelkie procesy unifikacyjne, zachodzące w skali ponadnarodowej nie jest dziś ani ekonomia, ani polityka, ale może być nią ekologizm, który z założenia rozpatruje problemy w skali globalnej. Zagrożenia, które są obiektem jego zainteresowania, nie uznają bowiem granic państwowych ani odrębności kulturowej.

The term "globalization" is flexible and its content modifies as the social practice does. Presently, two key directions of globalization can be identified which are evidently contradictory to each other. First of them tends to uniform the societies in a world scale following the pattern which had proved successful in the developed countries. The author used the term "urban" to characterize this type of globalization. The other type of globalization (glocalisation), described as "rural", assumes cultivation of the existing differences. A new quality i.e., the society of the planet, may only occur in the point in which the two globalization ways cross. Globalizalion should facilitate solving and eliminating the existing threats. This process takes already place in the sphere of ecology what is proven by the assumptions of the Earth's Summit in Rio de Janeiro and the Kioto Conference. The ecological problems, which have remained unsolved, accelerate globalization in ecology as they pose a threat to globalization processes, which take place in economy. In the world scale the threats are not similar as the threats of the world of plentitude and the world of poverty differ a lot. Glocalisation poses threats mainly to body while globalization is a thread primarily to human soul. An idea which joints all unification processes, which take place in pan-national scale, is neither economy nor politics. This can be ecologism, which, from its very assumptions, perceives problems in global scale. The threats, which fall within its scope of interest, do not respect either stale borders or cultural specificity.
