Przedmiotem badań, których wyniki są prezentowane w tym opracowaniu, jest charakterystyka rozwoju infrastruktury liniowej międzynarodowego transportu morskiego, traktowanej jako element globalnej morskiej infrastruktury logistycznej. Celem artykułu jest analiza i ocena tego rozwoju w aspekcie jego wpływu na sferę transportu morskiego, jako ogniwa globalnego logistycznego łańcucha dostaw oraz morską globalną przestrzeń logistyczną. Gros uwagi skoncentrowano na rozbudowie i modernizacji głównych kanałów morskich o strategicznym znaczeniu dla żeglugi światowej oraz analizie czynników determinujących ich rekonstrukcję. Wskazano, że liniowe składniki infrastruktury morskiej o strategicznym znaczeniu dla żeglugi oceanicznej, przystosowują się relatywnie szybko do nowych oczekiwań i wyzwań, jakie stawia przed nimi międzynarodowy transport morski i gospodarka globalna. Podkreślono także, że tego typu procesy dostosowawcze dokonują się głównie poprzez mechanizmy rynkowe i są przejawem sprawnego funkcjonowania międzynarodowych rynków frachtowych. Rynki te z kolei oddziałują silnie na rynki portowe oraz inne rodzaje rynków transportowych, funkcjonujących w ramach globalnej przestrzeni logistycznej.

The main subject author has focused on relates to the international maritime liner transport infrastructure development, treated as an element of the global maritime logistics infrastructure. The purpose of this article is to analyze and evaluate this development in terms of its impact on the sphere of maritime transport, regarded as a link of global logistics supply chain and global maritime logistics environment. The main attention has been focused on expansion and modernization of the main world marine canals of strategic importance for international shipping as well as an analysis of the factors determining their reconstruction. It has been indicated that a linear components of the maritime infrastructure of strategic importance to the ocean shipping, adapt relatively quickly to new requirements and challenges that puts in front of them international maritime transport and the global economy. It has been also stressed that this kind of adjustment processes is mainly stimulated by market forces and manifests smooth functioning of the international freight markets. In turn, the global freight markets interact strongly at the markets of sea port services and other transport markets functioning within the global logistics environment.
