The subsoil is an inseparable part of building structures. It is important to properly recognize and correctly define parameters that are important to the design process. Errors and negligence, which could appear in the period of determining the soil and water conditions and the implementation of earthworks may have costly consequences at the stage of use of the facilities. In order to counteract their occurrence, in this paper a set of practical principles aimed at changing the awareness of construction process stakeholders (investor, designer, contractor) is presented. The examples that present the effect of negligence and errors in the field of geotechnical recognize are given.

The statistics of damage and failures of buildings indicate that one of the causes are geotechnical issues. The lack or a limited scope of subsoil tests does not allow for a proper assessment of soil and water conditions, and then the correct determination of geotechnical parameters. Lack of substantive knowledge and ignorance of the current building regulations (including ground identification) shown by people interested in a construction investment (investor, designer, contractor) may result in damage, failure or catastrophe. Negligence in the proper preparation of the subsoil also results in additional costs at the stage of use of the structure. It is easier and cheaper to ensure the proper subsoil recognition and reduce or eliminate potential irregularities at the design and implementation stage than when the building is in use. The paper presents the current state of regulations related to geotechnical issues and the possible costs that may arise due to the lack of proper geotechnical identification of the subsoil.

W artykule przedstawiono badania do oceny warunków geotechnicznych posadowienia w rejonie ul. Tamka w Warszawie. Przypowierzchniową strefę podłoża budują spoiste osady koluwialno-deluwialne oraz aluwia okresowych cieków, leżące na erozyjno-glacitektonicznej powierzchni iłów pstrych pliocenu. Na podstawie analizy materiałów archiwalnych, badań terenowych (wiercenia, sondowania CPTU i DMT) oraz badań laboratoryjnych właściwości gruntów (próbki NNS, NW i NU) określono budowę geologiczną i warunki hydrogeologiczne oraz dokonano ilościowej i jakościowej oceny parametrów geotechnicznych gruntów występujących w badanym podłożu. W artykule skoncentrowano się na analizie wyników badań geotechnicznych oraz właściwościach fizyczno-mechanicznych gruntów w celu wydzielenia w budowie podłoża osadów antropogenicznych, zboczowych i rzecznych oraz stropu silnie zaburzonych osadów plioceńskich i podania ich przydatności na cele posadawiania budowli. Wskazano na znaczenie utworów zboczowych i zaburzeń w stropie iłów trzeciorzędowych w ocenie geotechnicznych warunków posadowienia.

In this study a geotechnical tests were undertaken to characterize the site geotechnical conditions located on Tamka St. in Warsaw. A description of geology was based on the field investigation, laboratory tests and the archive documents analysis. In situ (boreholes, CPTU, DMT) and standard laboratory tests were used to determine physical properties and mechanical parameters of soils. The paper is mainly focused on anthropogenic fills, slope, fluvial deposits and Pliocene clay analysis, so its foundation purpose capability and mechanical properties, at the toe edge zone of the Warsaw Slope, could be determined.

W pracy podjęto próbę korelacji wybranych parametrów otrzymanych z badań geofizycznych i geotechnicznych. Zestawiono wyniki geofizycznych sondowań oraz profilowań elektrooporowych z sondowaniami CPT, stanowiącymi podstawę do rozpoznania warunków gruntowo-wodnych podłoża. Badania geofizyczne i geotechniczne zostały wykonane pod projektowaną autostradę A1 w rejonie Częstochowy w województwie śląskim.

In the paper there is a correlation sample of selected parameters estimated from geophysical and geotechnical tests. The comparison of geophysical sounding and elektroresistance profiling with CPT tests is the basis for recognizing subsoil conditions. Geophysical and geotechnical tests were carried out for a new designed A1 motorway at the area of Częstochowa in the Silesia region.

W pracy omówiono zagadnienie wykonywania badań gruntów dla celów budownictwa i inżynierii przez osoby niemające wymaganych kwalifikacji. Stąd istniejący w Polsce dualizm prawny wynika z próby przejmowania problematyki geotechnicznej -będącej dyscypliną budownictwa - przez Ministerstwo Środowiska. Ministerstwo to wydało w tym zakresie akty prawne, w których absolwentom geologii nadaje uprawnienia do wykonywania geotechnicznych badań podłoża, a także do opracowywania założeń, wskazań i zaleceń wymagających przygotowania technicznego i uprawnień budowlanych. Narusza to zapisy Prawa budowlanego i związanych z nim rozporządzeń.

In this paper presents the problem of quality of geotechnical testing of soil for object of foundation building and others problems of engineering by persons who haven't had professional qualifications. Therefore in Poland exist of the legitimately dualism in which geologists realized geotechnical tests and solution of the geotechnical problems - which belong to the technical of building disciplines. This Environmental Administration published the legitimately acts, in which geologist received the building license for geotechnical tests of soil and also received recommendations, in area were are require technically education and the building license. This breach Polish Building Regulations and also the acts connected with his.

W artykule przedstawiono sposób określania parametrów przyjętego modelu gruntu, na podstawie wyników próbnego obciążenia gruntu fundamentem (symulującego konkretne zadanie geotechniczne). Parametry te wyrażają obiektywną odpowiedź gruntu (nie są obciążone systematycznymi niepewnościami pomiarowymi), właściwą dla rozważanego zadania. Warunkiem jest tu użycie komputera i programu mającego aplikację danego modelu gruntu.

In the paper the method of parameters estimation of the soil model on the basis of trial tests is presented. The trial tests arę carried out for the foundation which simulate the specific geotechnical task. These parameters give the answer for the soil behaviour. They arę not under the uncertain measurements. Using the computer with the application of the selected soil model is the condition for the parametric identification.
