W artykule przedstawiono zakres możliwego wykorzystania metody sejsmicznej do określania wartości parametrów geotechnicznych wymaganych przy projektowaniu tuneli komunikacyjnych. Ze względu na liniowy charakter tras komunikacyjnych i duże zazwyczaj ich długości racjonalizacja badań gelogicznych jest szczególnie ważna.

The geotechnical parameters as determined by means of geophysical methods are characteristic of considerable values dispersion although the methods considered "accurate" (8) are not free from dispersion either, however, the level of dispersion is much lowe), thereby they are characteristic of low level of certainty. However, geophysical methods are significantly cheaper and quicker than the accurate direct surveys, additionally supported by laboratory testing. Therefore, large interest is seen in improving geophysical methods, specifically improving the testing and surveying apparatus, as well as determining the correlation relations between the parameters of testing and geotechnical parameters. One of the geophysical methods which may be used for evaluating the geophysical properties of soil is a seismic method. This method may be applied for initial recognition of the orogenic belt. Thereby, it allows reasonable planning of principal surveys and constitutes the complementation of these surveys. The article shows the scope of possible applications of the seismic method for determining the value of geotechnical parameters required for designing the transportation services tunnels. Due to the linear character of transport routes, as well as usually long lengths, the rationalization of geological testing and surveys is particularly important.
