The author concentrates on the methodological bases of contemporary geography. According to his point of view, contemporary geography has been experienced an identity crisis. Based on the macroevolutionary conception, the author tries to find out the “comprehensive idea” of geography, identify its object and subject of its research, prove the fundamental character of geography as a science, consider it in the context of other “systemological” sciences and illustrate its theoretical (scientific, in terms of outlook) and practical significance.

Artykuł skupia się na metodologicznych podstawach współczesnej geografii. Zdaniem autora, współczesna geografia przeżywa kryzys tożsamości. W oparciu o koncepcję makroewolucji, autor próbuje ustalić przewodnią ideę geografii, zidentyfikować przedmiot i podmiot jej badań, promuję geografię jako naukę o charakterze fundamentalnym, rozpatruje ją w kontekście systemologicznym oraz pokazuje jej teoretyczne (naukowe, światopoglądowe) oraz praktyczne znaczenie.

The tourism potential is a very important starting point, if we consider the development of tourism in the region. It is a collection of elements of the geographical environment, and human behaviour that can be used for tourism or to deal with it. Only the relevant configuration items mentioned above allows us to talk about creating opportunities for the development of the tourism industry. The aim of this article is to analyze the tourist potential of the Lodz region presented in the strategic documents and to suggest ways to use the existing potential for tourism based on the analysis of tourism products Oppland county. In the first part of this article can be found a theoretical discussion of tourism development strategy and tourism potential. However, it was also examined selected strategic documents from the viewpoint of the tourist potential. The second part of the article is devoted to the identification of economic and social elements of the tourist potential based on the previously selected strategic documents. In addition, they were confronted with the assumptions of documents nationwide. In this way created a list that shows the elements of the tourist potential, which at present are not fully used. The last part of the article is devoted to presenting the best practices for managing tourism and touristic products in the county of Oppland, which can be adapted to the specific region of Lodz.

Celem artykułu jest włączenie się do dyskusji o kierunkach rozwoju badań nad ekonomicznymi aspektami ochrony środowiska naturalnego i szeroko rozumianą problematyką ekologiczną, choć jedynie z punktu widzenia nowej terminologii. Kwestie terminologiczne nie są wprawdzie najważniejsze, ale nieprzemyślane nazewnictwo sprawia wiele nieporozumień i kłopotów Autor na ten temat przedstawiał swoje stanowisko, niekiedy bardzo polemicznie, na wielu konferencjach naukowych oraz w kilku publikacjach z zakresu problematyki ekologicznej (już od 1995 roku). Jednakże odzew był prawie żaden i dlatego warto wrócić do tych kontrowersji, przedstawiając krytyczną ocenę tak zwanego postępu terminologicznego w omawianej dziedzinie i proponując sposób uporządkowania tej terminologii.

This elaboration presents controversies associated with the use of terminology pertaining to the economic aspects of environmental research, including the following thematic groups: sozological, ecological and environmental policy; natural, biological and geographical environment; environmental .protection economics - ecological economics - economics of the environment - sustainable economics - environmental management, as well as eco-development and sustainable and durable development. The author prefers to disseminate the category of durable development in place of sustainable development and equilibrated development.
