Content available Ecological analysis of heavy metal and radioactivity potential of Holocene sediments in Iznik Lake

In this study, the heavy metal and radioactive properties of Iznik Lake were investigated. Concentration values of the first (Ag, Bi, Mo, Sn, Se, Zn, As, B, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Pt and Sb) and second (Na, Mg, K, Ca, P, S, Fe, Al and Mn) group of elements in borehole 1 (BH-1) drilling did not show much variation from the top to the bottom of the drilling. Concentration values of the fi rst group of elements in borehole 2 (BH-2) drill samples decreased at higher levels of drilling. In addition, natural and anthropogenic radionuclides were measured by gamma spectrometry, and the results of environmental natural radioactivity of Iznik Lake and its surroundings were determined. In the measurement results, Ra-226 was found to be below the world average value at all locations. It is assumed that the determination of K-40 values above the average values was due to agricultural activities carried out intensively in the study area. Th-232 values were found to be below the world average value in drilling samples; Cs-137 values were below the background level in all samples. According to these results, the study area does not contain any unnatural radioactivity.

Przeprowadzone analizy geochemiczne dla gleb miasta Przemyśla wykazały, że koncentracje pierwiastków śladowych nie przekraczają ich naturalnej zawartości, a gleby nie wykazują nadmiernego zakwaszenia. Zasadniczy udział na badanym obszarze mają gleby obojętne i zasadowe. Gleby kwaśne i lekko kwaśne występują jedynie w niewielkim zakresie. Wyniki badań mineralogicznych pozwalają stwierdzić, że w analizowanych próbkach fazą dominującą jest kwarc. Spośród minerałów ilastych wyodrębniono kaolinit, minerały z grupy mik oraz minerały z grupy smektytu.

The geochemical analyses carried out for Przemyśl soil showed that the concentrations of trace elements do not exceed their natural content and acidification. The main part of the area are neutral and alkaline soils. Slightly acid soil and acid are visible only to a small extent. The results of mineralogical studies allow to conclude that in the analysed samples, quartz is the predominant phase. Among the clay minerals kaolinite was separated, minerals of micas group as well as minerals from the smectite group.

W pracy przedstawiono ogólne zagadnienia dotyczące problematyki shale gazu, kryteriów ich występowania, a także metodyczne podstawy klasyfikacji osadów będących potencjalnymi dla poszukiwań tego typu złóż. Artykuł przybliża problematykę niekonwencjonalnych złóż gazu, które według wielu specjalistów branży energetycznej mają zabezpieczyć zapotrzebowanie na gaz przez najbliższe 30, a może i więcej lat. W artykule przedstawiono konieczne prace z zakresu geochemii naftowej, j akie powinny być wykonane dla oceny potencjalnych osadów wartych zainteresowania z punktu widzenia poszukiwań niekonwencjonalnych złóż gazu ziemnego. Jest to przygotowanie do rozpoczęcia w Polsce badań łupków określanych jako shale gas.

This-study presents the general issues related to the problems of shale gas, conditions of its occurrence and methodological basics of classification of residua, which are potential in searches in this type of fields. The article brings closer the problems of unconventional beds of gas, which (according to many specialists from energy industry) could cover world demand for gas within next 30 or even more years. This article presents the necessary activities in oil geochemistry, stratigraphy and sedimentology, which has to be done in order to estimate potentially worth exploring gas shale resources. This is also part of preparation before examining shale gas in Poland.
