The ECE Process in Cyclic Voltammetry. The Relationships Between Elementary and Apparent Kinetic Parameters Obtained by Convolution Method

The application of convolution method for extraction of kinetic parameters from two-electron CV peaks is examined on the basis of respective mathematical model. It is shown that convolution analysis of the current responses for the ECE process leads to complex kinetic plots and, there fore, provides limited possibilities of proper kinetic parameters determination. The advantages of estimation method providing exact values of kinetic parameters in comparison to used convolution method have been presented. It is shown that convolution method of the analysis of ECE process with the use of apparent alfa app variability is not sufficient to distin guish between stepwise and concerted mechanism. Presented paper contains 2D and 3D visualizations of the complex relation ships among various kinetic parameters. It is demonstrated that complex alfa app plots are the result of applying the E or EE model to ECE process.
