This work presents information about the influence of shot-peening, nickel and chromium galvanic metallization on the fatigue properties of S235JRG2 steel in the ultra-high-cycle region of loading […] obtained at high-frequency fatigue testing […]. Shot-peening is a technological process during which the surface layer is exposed to plastic deformation which is caused by high speed shooting using small metallic or ceramic particles. Galvanic metallization by nickel deposition is one of the most thorough processes of surface finish and has many applications, mostly decorative-protective and technical ones. Technical coatings are used in order to modify the proprieties of the surface that is being covered for protection against corrosion but also in order to increase the hardness and resistance to wear. The coatings produced by galvanic metallization increase corrosion resistance but in doing so, they introduce tensile stresses into the surface layer which act negatively on fatigue proprieties. Nickel is employed for the production of final coatings or it can be used for the production of inter-layers in chrome galvanic metallization.

Using of SEM can allow the viewpoint by evaluation of damage cases of steel components during exploitation and it is also possible for hydrogen cracking. For its documentation: - It was evolved the simple method for achievement of components cracking in consequence of hydrogen process of material by galvanic metallization. - This method was attested in real praxis and was included in common using tests methods. - Was defined term "hydrogen process on the critical boundary". - Was treated simple table and by its using we can differ the thermal embrittlement and hydrogen embrittlement.
