A unified calculating approach is needed for public passenger transportation. All public transport companies and other stakeholders would have additional opportunities to create a transport offer if the unified methodology was made available to them and if calculations and calculation criteria were harmonized. Thus, the main goal – improving citizen mobility – would be accomplished. For this reason, in the study, we suggested the hybrid fuzzy methods for evaluating and improving the quality of public transport service. Unreliable responses of survey participants often distort group decision-making regarding the problem of public services, negatively affecting the end of the calculation procedure. Fuzzy multicriteria decision-making approach has been used. The suggested technique has the advantage of taking into account the degree of fuzzification of respondents' judgments about the choice scenario, while also using two MCDM models to eliminate bias in the responses.

The fishing shipyard in Banda Aceh City is a privately owned shipyard and is managed in a family manner. The shipyard here is active in carrying out maintenance, repair and construction of new ships when there is demand from consumers. The shipyards in Banda Aceh City generally make ships made of wood. The problem that is currently being faced is that there are many abandoned ships due to lack of finance, natural resources, human resources and environment, this is an obstacle to the progress and development of shipyards. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibiting factors that exist in shipyards in the city of Banda Aceh and find alternative solutions to these problems. The method used in this study was a survey method used to look at existing symptoms and collect data on the factors related to research variables and then analyzed using the Fuzzy AHP method. The results of this study indicate that the financial inhibiting factor is the most influential factor in shipyards with a resulting value of 0.4635, the inhibiting factor of Natural Resources is worth 0.35675, the inhibiting factor of Human Resources is worth 0.2865 and the inhibiting factor from the environment is the inhibiting factor which is the lowest or less influential with a value of 0.14325. The alternative solutions to financial problems are capital loans and investments. An alternative for natural resources is the addition of a minimum stock to anticipate stock scarcity and delays in the delivery of materials and tools. The alternative for human resources is the existence of an office, organizational structure, and division of tasks as well as raising awareness of occupational health and safety. As for the alternatives for the environment, namely the need for buildings or installation of tarpaulins for the areas where ships are built, good land management and studies of other natural impacts.

The fast-fashion business model is marred by high resource consumption and enormous emission of greenhouse gases. It is based on inaccurate forecasts, resulting in excess supply than demand. Globally, 85% of two-week-old garments end up as unfashionable or worn-out items that must be discarded as waste, disposed of for recycling, or donated to charities. With this colossal increase in textile waste, resource efficiency is one of the biggest challenges facing the fashion industry, which now calls for a swift implementation of a new sustainable business and consumption model to extend product life cycles. This demand for sustainable consumption encourages consumers to reuse, recycle and resell. The resell campaign known as second-hand clothing is a growing market worldwide. Current global forecasts predict a 185% increase over the next ten years, compared to FF, which will expand by just 20%. Africa is a top destination, with more than 80% of its population wearing SHCs. We contribute to this literature by assessing the significance of SHC trade in Liberia. We extend this assessment by developing a hybrid MCDM tool incorporating AHP, fuzzy logic, Ensemble, and TOPSIS to build a SWOT framework to identify criteria and sub-criteria for prioritizing SHC retailing in Liberia and Africa. Data for this study were gathered from a survey involving 100 SHC retailers from the Red-Light, Waterside, Duala, and Omega markets in Monrovia, Liberia. We identified several important factors in implementing sustainable SHC and recommended strategic directions towards their successful implementation.

Maintenance has a key impact on the efficiency of the production processes because the efficiency of the machines determines the ability of the system to produce in accordance with the assumed schedule. The key element of the system performance assessment remains the availability of technological equipment, which directly translates into the efficiency and effectiveness of the performed production tasks. Taking into account the dynamic nature of manufacturing processes, the proper selection of machinery and equipment for the implementation of specific production tasks becomes an issue of particular importance. The purpose of this research was to determine the impact of technical and non-technical factors on the material selection of machine tools for production tasks and to develop a method of supporting the selection of production resources using the AHP and Fuzzy AHP methods. The research was carried out in a manufacturing company from the automotive industry.

Meeting customers’ requirements and achieved the right level of product quality is key action of enterprises. It is being done by controlling the product, using for example non-destructive testing (NDT). But the NDT not indicating what is the root of incompatibility. Additionally, previous research does not include the decision methods, which would be related the identify the causes of the problem as part of improving the product quality. Therefore, the aim is supporting the process of improving the product quality level in the context of precisely identify the incompatibility and the root of their occurrence with including the solve decision problem. In this aim, it was assumed that using after the NDT research in connection way: brainstorming, cause and effect diagram, AHP method (Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process) and the 5Why method, will be allowed on effective identify the root of the problem. The method test was carried out for the porosity on a welded mechanical seal made of steel 410, which was identified by the fluorescence method (FPI) in Podkarpacie enterprise. The analysis has shown the effectiveness of using after NDT the combined methods as part of identifying the incompatibility and precisely identifying the root of its occurrence in context of solving the decision problem. The proposed method can be used to improving the quality of other products, for example from the aviation and automotive industry, as part of meeting customer requirements. Originality is the combined NDT research with quality management techniques and supported the process of improving the quality level of the product by implementing in this sequence the fuzzy multicriteria decision method.

Manufacturers need to select the best design from alternative design concepts in order to meet up with the demand of customers and have a larger share of the competitive market that is flooded with multifarious designs. Evaluation of conceptual design alternatives can be modelled as a Multi‐Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) process because it includes conflicting design features with different sub features. Hybridization of Multi Attribute Decision Making (MADM) models has been applied in various field of management, science and engineering in order to have a robust decision-making process but the extension of these hybridized MADM models to decision making in engineering design still requires attention. In this article, an integrated MADM model comprising of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP), Fuzzy Pugh Matrix and Fuzzy VIKOR was developed and applied to evaluate conceptual designs of liquid spraying machine. The fuzzy AHP was used to determine weights of the design features and sub features by virtue of its fuzzified comparison matrix and synthetic extent evaluation. The fuzzy Pugh matrix provides a methodical structure for determining performance using all the design alternatives as basis and obtaining aggregates for the designs using the weights of the sub features. The fuzzy VIKOR generates the decision matrix from the aggregates of the fuzzified Pugh matrices and determine the best design concept from the defuzzified performance index. At the end, the optimal design concept is determined for the liquid spraying machine.

In order to design and develop a new raincoat for children of the age group 7-8 years, in this paper we propose a conceptual model for FEA (functional, expressive, and aesthetic considerations) perception analysis of the desired raincoat. The model proposed has three levels: Goal Level (development of a new raincoat for children of the age group 7-8 years), Requirement Level (FEA considerations) and Design Solution Level (garment design solutions corresponding to the requirements of the Requirement Level). Due to the characteristics and relations of the different levels, we propose a fuzzy AHP (analytic hierarchy process) approach to solve this problem. Through the fuzzy AHP model proposed, requirements and related design solutions can be analysed with their relative weights. 20 designers and 20 evaluators (child care-givers) were involved in the experiments. Related design solutions and evaluation of their overall performance were defined though subjective evaluation experiments with standard procedures. This paper serves as a guide for the analysis of children’s raincoat design. Relative weight values of different design solutions provide suggestions for designers in the future design and development process.

Proponowany model miał trzy poziomy: celu (opracowanie nowego płaszcza przeciwdeszczowego dla dzieci w wieku 7-8 lat), wymagań (względy MES) i rozwiązania projektowego (rozwiązania w zakresie projektowania odzieży odpowiadające wymaganiom poziomu wymagań). W eksperymentach brało udział 20 projektantów i 20 oceniających (opiekunów dzieci). Powiązane rozwiązania projektowe i ocena ich ogólnej wydajności zostały określone poprzez subiektywne eksperymenty przeprowadzone zgodnie ze standardowymi procedurami. Zaprezentowane wyniki rozwiązań projektowych mogą stanowić sugestie dla projektantów w przyszłym procesie projektowania.

This study aims to analyse the sensitivity in decision-making which results in the selection of the appropriate underground metal mining method using the fuzzy-analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) model. The proposed model considers sixteen criteria for the selection of the most appropriate mining method out of the seven. The model consists of three-layer viz. the first layer represents the criteria (factors which influence the mining method), the second layer represents the sub-criteria (categorisation of the factors) and the third layer represents the alternatives (mining methods). The priority of the different mining methods was determined based on global weights. The global weights of seven mining method were determined using a different fuzzification factor under different decision-making attitudes (optimistic, pessimistic and unbiased). The sensitivity of the decision-making results was analysed in order to understand the robustness of the model.

Effective and efficient operation of a manufacturing system highly depends on the timely and correct implementation of maintenance operations. One of the most important factors affecting the successful implementation of maintenance operations is the determination of suitable inventory control policies for maintenance spare parts. Effective spare parts inventory management requires the criticality evaluation of spare parts. In this study, a novel spare parts criticality evaluation approach is proposed. First, the evaluation criteria are determined based on literature review and expert opinion and Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to determine the criteria weights. Next, Taguchi loss functions and simulation modeling are employed for the calculation of loss values for the spare parts. Finally, a criticality ranking of the spare parts is obtained based on the weighted loss values which are calculated using criteria weights and loss values. The applicability of the proposed approach was tested by applying it to a spare part criticality evaluation problem faced by a manufacturing company.

Occupational accidents on board criteria determining is a challenging procedure in shipping industry as the ideal safety ship management strategy depends on many factors involving in shipping transportation There are many legislations, agreements and practices to obtain series of security measures in order to ensure safety and security of seafarers. Causes of on-board occupational accidents need to be evaluated in a correct manner to regulate more functional practices and also to lower the on-board accident rates. However, causes of on-board accidents can be extremely complex. Therefore, scientific methods should be used to evaluate the causes and to determine the measures to be taken. The evaluation of the parameters is of great importance for the future of the maritime sector and in terms of development. In this study, factors have been identified that lead to seafarers? occupational accidents on board and we tried to present alternative solutions which can be applied on this issue. Severity of the reasons that led to the accidents and their relationships with each other are identified to be able to sort through the alternative solutions with a model using the fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method approach. Results of the study revealed that the most important criteria for the occupational accidents on board criteria selection are respectively; human factors, lack of management, ship-borne troubles, cargo troubles and environmental factors.

The difficulty of innovation risk assessment makes it necessary to use a multi-criteria analysis. Innovative projects are related to unstructured problems and the uncertainty, therefore, the use of fuzzy logic in the innovation risk assessment is analyzed. This paper proposes a method of determining the weights of criteria in order to innovation risk assessment. The weights are determined by 5 general criteria and 14 detailed criteria of innovation risk assessment. The proposed method is an extension of the fuzzy AHP method. The extension consists in taking into consideration the group decision-making approach with experts’ psychological conditions. The groups of experts have been chosen based on an elaborated form. The form makes it possible to characterize the persons within the scope of different psychological conditions. The proposed method provides objective and rational decision-making. The paper presents also a comparison of results with the fuzzy AHP method without the group decision making. The weights obtained by the proposed method are more diversified and bring out the most important criteria.

This paper describes an effective approach to select suitable plant species for reclamation of mined lands in Chadormaloo iron mine which is located in central part of Iran, near the city of Bafgh in Yazd province. After mine’s total reserves are excavated, the mine requires to be permanently closed and reclaimed. Mine reclamation and post-mining land-use are the main issues in the phase of mine closure. In general, among various scenarios for mine reclamation process, i.e. planting, agriculture, forestry, residency, tourist attraction, etc., planting is the oldest and commonly-used technology for the reclamation of lands damaged by mining activities. Planting and vegetation play a major role in restoring productivity, ecosystem stability and biological diversity to degraded areas, therefore the main goal of this research work is to choose proper and suitable plants compatible with the conditions of Chadormaloo mined area, providing consistent conditions for future use. To ensure the sustainability of the reclaimed landscape, the most suitable plant species adapted to the mine conditions are selected. Plant species selection is a Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem. In this paper, a fuzzy MCDM technique, namely Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is developed to assist chadormaloo iron mine managers and designers in the process of plant type selection for reclamation of the mine under fuzzy environment where the vagueness and uncertainty are taken into account with linguistic variables parameterized by triangular fuzzy numbers. The results achieved from using FAHP approach demonstrate that the most proper plant species are ranked as Artemisia sieberi, Salsola yazdiana, Halophytes types, and Zygophyllum, respectively for reclamation of Chadormaloo iron mine.

This paper presents an integrated evaluation approach for decision support enabling effective supplier selection and ordering processes in textile industry. The integrated evaluation method in this study includes two phases that consist of fuzzy AHP and goal programming approaches. Supplier evaluation and selection is a multi-criterion decision problem which includes both qualitative and quantitative factors. That’s why; firstly, linguistic variables expressed in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are applied to assess weights and ratings of supplier selection criteria. Then a hierarchy multiple model based on fuzzy set theory is expressed and the geometric mean method of Buckley is used to aggregate pair wise comparisons. Finally, a goal programming model is built using the goals about coefficients of suppliers, total ordering cost, number of wrong deliveries, total delivery cost under the constraints of required minimum and maximum number of orderings and acceptable quality cost levels of each supplier and demand constraint of the product.

Building teams has a fundamental impact for execution of research and development projects. Often the success of the project depends on the competence of employees implementing these projects. Therefore, it becomes essential to build the team where skills complement each other in terms of knowledge, personality and practical skills. On the other hand an important element is the process of assessing the candidate. The person dealing with recruitment often bases its decisions on intuition / subjective impression and they tend to be unreliable. The article presents a proposal to use Fuzzy AHP and TOPSIS methods in team building for R&D projects on the basis of employees skills using for this process the most well-known tool, namely spreadsheet.

Fuzzye Analytic Hierarchy Process - FAHP; dalej: FAHP).

When selecting the supplier of building materials, contractors can take into account a considerable number of criteria. Although including them all in the evaluation is beneficial, it may cause many issues in practice. To solve this problem, one may resort to one of the multiciteria analysis methods. The article presents an example of a multicriteria analysis, namely, the AHP, and illustrates its application in both the basic presentation and in its more elaborate variant: the Fuzzy AHP - FAHP.
