Modelling of beetroot seedlings with modified generalized logistic functions

Modified generalized logistic functions (also known as Koya-Goshu functions) were used for mathematical description of germination. These functions constitute natural modification of traditionally used Richards' function for description of plants germination that introduces a non-linear time increase in exponent and an element related to time shift. Curves were adjusted to experimental data based on minimization of the square sum of difference between experimental data and a mathematical model (the smallest squares method). Results of simulation research show that the determined parameters of curves (e.g., values of the growth parameter, time shift or upper limit of population) describing the number of seedlings as a time function stay compliant to interpretation with regard to biology of the investigated processes. Based on the research, it was stated that for control and application of plant extracts to soil, Koyu-Gosha model has better adjustment to experimental data in comparison to the generalized logistic model.

Do opisu matematycznego wschodów wykorzystano zmodyfikowane uogólnione funkcje logistyczne (znane również jako funkcje Koya-Goshu). Funkcje te stanowią naturalną modyfikację klasycznie stosowanych funkcji Richardsa w opisie wzrostu roślin, wprowadzającą nieliniowy przyrost czasu w wykładniku exponenty oraz człon związany z przesunięciem czasowym. Dopasowanie krzywych do danych eksperymentalnych przeprowadzono w oparciu o minimalizacje sumy kwadratów różnic pomiędzy danymi eksperymentalnymi, a modelem matematycznym (metoda najmniejszych kwadratów). Rezultaty badań symulacyjnych pokazują, iż wyznaczone parametry krzywych (np. wartości parametru wzrostu, przesunięcia czasowego czy górnej granicy populacji) opisujących ilość wschodów w funkcji czasu pozostają w dobrej zgodności z interpretacją na gruncie biologicznym badanych procesów. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, iż dla kontroli oraz aplikacji do gleby wyciągów roślinnych model Koya-Goshu posiada lepsze dopasowanie do wyników eksperymentalnych w stosunku do uogólnionego modelu logistycznego.

W nawiązaniu do funkcji logistycznych omówiono ich obszary problemowe, które odnoszą się do przedmiotu (znaczenie ochronne a infrastruktura transportowa) oraz do funkcji (standaryzacja opakowań a wykorzystanie przestrzeni ładunkowej).

The article presents the role and importance of packaging in international trade. At the beginning of the paper are presented the basic definitions, types and functions of packaging. Referring to the logistics functions discussed their problem areas relating to the subject matter (protective role and transport infrastructure) and features (standardization of packaging and the use of cargo space).

W artykule przedstawiono rozwój funkcji logistycznych, a w szczególności funkcji logistyczno dystrybucyjnej w Porcie Göteborg. Rozwój logistyki w porcie ma na celu wzmocnienie pozycji konkurencyjnej portu na rynku międzynarodowym, jak i w Regionie Morza Bałtyckiego. W wyniku wsparcia finansowego miasta i rządu, zarząd portu położonego nad Cieśniną Duńską realizuje inwestycje umożliwiające przejęcie części ładunków przeładowywanych w terminalach kontenerowych portów Rotterdam i Hamburg.

This paper presents the development of the logistics functions, in particular logistics and distribution functions at the Port of Gothenburg. The development of logistics in the port aims to strengthen the competitive position of the port in the international market as well as in the Baltic Sea Region. As a result of the financial support of the city and the government, the management port located on the Danish Straits invests to enable the acquisition of cargo container terminals handled in the ports of Rotterdam and Hamburg.

The aim of the studies was to determine the effect of nutrition of the soil with magnesium in differentiated soil moisture conditions on the dynamics of the elongation growth of fragrant basil. The first factor of the two year pot experiment was the level of the nutrition with magnesium (O, 0.30, 0.90 g of Mg per pot), the other factor was the level of soil moisture (30 and 60% of full water volume). Usefulness of the logistic Richards function for the description of the elongation growth of fragrant basil was statistically confirmed. The elongation growth of Ocimum basilicum L was of typical sigmoidal character independently of the experimental combination in both years of the studies. In the second year of the experiment the average height of this plant fertilized with magnesium in 0.30 and 0.60 g doses per pot was larger of 3.5 cm and 3 cm, respectively than the height of basil which was not fertilized with Ibis element.

Celem pracy było określenie wpływu doglebowego żywienia magnezem, w zróżnicowanych warunkach wilgotnościowych gleby na dynamikę wzrostu elongacyjnego bazylii wonnej. Pierwszym czynnikiem dwuletniego doświadczenia wazonowego był poziom żywienia magnezem (0; 0,30; 0,90 g Mg na wazon), drugim - poziom uwilgotnienia gleby (30 i 60 % pełnej pojemności wodnej). Statystycznie potwierdzono dużą przydatność funkcji logistycznej Richardsa do opisu wzrostu elongacyjnego bazylii wonnej. Wzrost badanej rośliny, w obu latach badań, niezależnie od kombinacji doświadczenia miał typowy, sigmoidalny przebieg. W drugim roku badań średnia wysokość tej rośliny żywionej magnezem w dawce 0,30 i 0,60 g na wazon była większa od wysokości bazylii nie dożywianej tym pierwiastkiem.
