Recent events - collapses of power energy networks, constant increase of fossil fuel prices, natural disasters caused by the greenhouse effect or terrorism force us to draw our attention to consider the future of energetics. Should we continue the development of the traditional methods of gaining and using energy or should we consider new philosophy of providing energy for the society? Nowadays only developed countries have at their disposal the energy at sufficient level, reaching to several kWh per person. During the coming dozens of years the population on our planet will reach some 10 billions people. If we want to avoid hunger, poverty and discontent we have to find a way to provide the energy for those 10 billions at a level which is now available in the developed countries. This task cannot be achieved with the use of technologies available today.There are some investigations reporting that the present consumption of the fossil fuels has reached its apogee, and we are going to face a slow reduction of production and utilization of these raw materials. The greenhouse effect related to the combustion of fossil fuels is becoming more and more severe. Taking into account that the CO2 life time in the atmosphere is more than 100 years, even the rapid reduction of its emission will not eliminate the greenhouse effect. The idea to store up the CO2 e.g. in closed down mines is rather unreal, regarding high costs of such project and huge risk of disasters causing dishermetization of the deposit.In order to provide the energy for the 10 billions of people at the level comparable to that in the developed countries, it would be necessary to generate ca. 60 Terawatts per day, the equivalence of 900 millions of barrels. For the comparison, today's energy consumption is equivalent to 220 barrels of oil per day. Where such amount of energy, ecologically pure in addition, may came from? Many deliberations on this topic are taking into account hydrogen, wind and solar power as well as geothermal power.
