This study presents analyses concerning control processes of injection times of divided dose of fuel, starting from setting of injection time in controller up to moment of execution in compression ignition engine. Multiple injection doses were analyzed taking into consideration both sums of individual portions of doses as well as gaps between the doses. Studies were performed for various configurations of the doses, with different values of injection times and gaps between the injections. Measurements were performed for three measuring groups containing single-, two-, and five-portion doses. At constant values of time in a given group it have been applied variable injection pressures. The most important factors determining division of fuel dose were discussed.

W pracy wyznaczono różnice między zadanymi i realizowanymi czasami wtrysku oraz czasy opóźnienia pomiędzy początkiem/końcem sygnału sterującego, a otwarciem/zamknięciem wtryskiwacza dla dzielonej dawki wtrysku. Dla stałych wartości zadanego czasu otwarcia wtryskiwacza wyznaczono rzeczywiste czasy wypływu paliwa z rozpylacza. Pomiary przeprowadzono dla różnych wartości ciśnień paliwa w zasobniku i różnych wielkości dawek wtrysku.

In the paper the difference between the requested and implemented injection delay time between the onset/end of signal and the opening/closing of the injector for the divided injection dose were presented. For fixed values of the time allocated to actual injector opening set the real time flow of fuel spray. The measurements were carried out for different values of fuel pressure in the rail and different values of injection doses.

W artykule przedstawiono metodykę postępowania stosowaną do analizy zmierzonych przebiegów wtrysku. Do analizy wykorzystano indykator z komorą o stałej objętości. Przedstawiono rodzaje uzyskiwanych przebiegów oraz sposoby wyznaczania przebiegu wtrysku dla każdego z nich. Określono wpływ temperatury pomiaru na wartość obliczanej dawki wtrysku. Wyznaczono dokładność stosowanej metody odwzorowania procesu wtrysku dla niedzielonej dawki wtrysku.

In the paper the methodology of determination fuel injection rate has been considered. In this measurements the constant volume indicator was used. Some kind of measuring and analyzing signals were presented. The impact of temperature on injection dose was analyzed. Comparison between measurement and calculate amount of injection has been presented.

In the paper the rate of heat release analysis in direct injection diesel engine has been presented and discussed. The research has been carried out for two different injection strategies, i.e. for conventional single-phase injection and for triple-phase injection executed by a Common Rail injection system. The calculation methodology of heat release rate based on indicator diagram has been presented as well.

W artykule dokonano analizy przebiegu wydzielania się ciepła w cylindrze silnika wysokoprężnego z wtryskiem bezpośrednim. Badania prowadzono dla dwu różnych strategii wtrysku, tj. konwencjonalnego wtrysku jednokrotnego potrójnego wtrysku realizowanego za pomocą systemu common rail. Przedstawiono również metodykę obliczania przebiegu wydzielania ciepła na podstawie wykresu indykatorowego.

The paper presents some results of PM emission obtained from a single cylinder, direct injection diesel engine equipped with common-rail injection system with fully free control signal changing. Injection rate shaping is limited only by dynamic properties of injector moving parts, but injection pressure can be adjusted from 60 up to 110 MPa. Investigations were made at a multi-split injection rate, i.e. three fuel doses, to determine an influence of different injection rates on PM emission. It was also noticed that comparing to engine operation with the standard in-line injection pump, combustion noise and exhaust smoke being the result of PM presence is significantly decreased.

Przedstawiono wyniki wstępnych badań, których celem było wyznaczenie przebiegów natężenia wypływu paliwa z rozpylacza silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym.

The structure and principle of operation injection indicator has been described. Also slotted line and the analysis method of numerical signal considered. In the paper the results of own preliminary research of fuel injection into constant volume indicator were introduced.
