Content available remote Friction Induced Vibration in Conveying Belt-Roller System
EN
In the paper analysis of the roller vibration in the conveyor belt-roller friction support system is presented. Influence of some system parameters to the vibration level and possibilities of control and limitation of vibration are shown.

Content available remote Friction induced vibration of a very flexible shaft rotating slowly
EN
High frequency vibration was observed in operation of a soot-blower. To clarify its mechanism analysis and experiment was done on a system consisting of a flexible shaft rotating slowly, on which friction acts tangentially at an intermediate position. Analytical results show that the real part of an eigenvalue does not always decrease monotonically with the order of mode. Therefore, some higher modes may appear more prominently. Large vibration is observed in experiment where real part of an eigenvalue is large.

Content available remote Friction-Induced Vibrations : Excitation Mechanisms and Counter Measures
EN
Friction is an all-day-phenomenon and everybody is familiar with it. From an engineering point of view two different phenomena can be distinguished. First, the resistance against the start of a relative motion of bodies which is caused by the contact between these bodies. Secondly, the resistance against an existing relative motion of two contacting bodies. In the first case, the phenomenon is called static friction. It is of great use in technical applications as it enables for example fixing of parts by screws or driving of land vehicles by wheels. In the second case, the effort to sustain a sliding motion is called kinetic friction. Usually, this effect is unwanted in engineering because it is responsible for the transformation of kinetic energy into heat and, thus, additional energy consumption, as well as for the wear of parts by relative motion.

Content available remote Investigation of noise and vibration at frictional contact in mechanical systems
EN
This paper is motivated by the realization that the phenomena of noise and vibration caused by frictional contact in mechanical systems must be related to the properties of the contact. The three parameters of interest to vibration response are equivalent (macroscopic) contact stiffness, damping and friction function (contact tangential-to-normal load ratio). The dynamic response of a spring-mass-damper in frictional contact with a moving platform is considered. The equations for contact stiffness as well as viscoelastic characteristics are implemented in the equations of motion of mass-spring-damper system. It is shown that the formulation of contact stiffness and force allows the inclusion of frictional contact without the necessity of including friction/velocity relation phenomenologically. That is no assumption of friction/velocity relation is made in the formulation of the governing differential equations. Friction is obtained together with the resulting dynamic response of the system. It is demonstrated that the contact and the mechanical system have a mutual influence, i.e. effect and feedback.

Zaprezentowano wyniki badań będących bezpośrednią kontynuacją wcześniejszych prac z zakresu badania drgań wywołanych tarciem. Badano konforemne płaskie skojarzenie pierścieniowe, z monolitycznego AI2O3 smarowanego olejem parafinowym. Badania wykonano na Tribometrze PT-3 wyposażonym w komputerowy system sterująco - pomiarowy umożliwiający wielokanałową, szerokopasmową rejestrację przyspieszeń, sił i przemieszczeń. Układ badawczy Tribometru zmodyfikowano, umożliwiając prowadzenie badań przy zmiennej bezwładności i sztywności podparcia. Zarejestrowano drgania cierne o dwóch stopniach swobody, w szerokim zakresie obciążeń i prędkości ślizgania. Dokonano analizy wpływu warunków badań z uwzględnieniem cech dynamicznych maszyny badawczej na obserwowane tarcie ślizgowe.

Results from research on friction induced vibrations in a flat ceramic contact are presented. Flat annular - shaped Al2O3 ceramic specimens lubricated with paraffin oil were used. The research was carried out on PT-3/99 Tribometer equipped with a wide - band vibration data acquisition system with signal feeds for accelerations, forces and translations. The test rig was equipped with a modified test set - up with variable inertia and stiffness characteristics. Friction induced vibration with two degrees of freedom was observed over a wide range of sliding velocity and load. The influence of inertia and stiffness of the test set - up on the course of sliding friction and friction induced vibration was analysed.
