The paper presents the definition of susceptibility to transport of fresh fruit and vegetables. Attention is paid to the characteristics of fruit and vegetables, which particularly affect the vulnerability of transport and storage. We discussed the possibility of using rail to transport fresh fruit and vegetables. It presents the most important conditions to be met so that rail transport could be effectively used for the transport of fresh fruit and vegetables. It presents the most important advantages and disadvantages of the use of rail transport to carry this type of product. Rail transport is referred to as the most environmentally friendly. It has been shown that rail transport can be used for the transport of selected species of fruit and vegetables, whose allowed transport time is sufficiently long. You should use appropriate rolling stock equipped with a refrigeration unit, a device for monitoring the position of the transport unit and the conditions inside the vehicle. Sometimes you should use the device to modify the composition of the atmosphere in the cargo space. Rail transport can be used especially for international long-distance, large amounts of fruits and vegetables.

Opracowanie zawiera ogólne dane dotyczące produkcji owoców i warzyw w Polsce oraz wielkości i kierunków wymiany handlowej w ostatnich latach. Dokonano analizy aktualnego stanu organizacji transportu w obrocie świeżymi warzywami i owocami na podstawie istniejących badań. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na rodzaj wykorzystywanych środków transportu, wielkość i strukturę kosztów logistyki oraz strukturę łańcuchów dostaw. W dalszej części przedstawiono trendy zmian zachodzących w organizacji transportu. Uwzględniono między innymi wykorzystanie systemów informatycznych wspierających logistykę, zmiany w strukturze łańcuchów dostaw, zmiany konstrukcji pojazdów, koszty zewnętrzne transportu oraz działania mające na celu ochronę środowiska. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono możliwości wykorzystania transportu kolejowego oraz transportu intermodalnego do przewozu świeżych warzyw i owoców.

The study contains general data on fruit and vegetable production in Poland and the size and direction of trade in recent years. An analysis of the current state of the organization of transport in the course of fresh vegetables and fruits on the basis of existing studies. Special attention is paid to the type of means of transport used, the size and structure of the costs for logistics and supply chain structure. The following shows the trends of changes in the organization of transport. It takes into account inter alia the use of information systems that support logistics, changes in the structure of supply chains, changes in vehicle design, the external costs of transport and measures to protect the environment. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of using rail transport and intermodal to transport fresh vegetables and fruits.

W opracowaniu przedstawiono podstawowe dane dotyczące produkcji owoców i warzyw w Polsce oraz wielkości eksportu i importu. Dokonano skrótowej analizy organizacji transportu w sektorze rolno-spożywczym, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem przedsiębiorstw z sektora owoców i warzyw, wykorzystujących technologie transportu w warunkach kontrolowanej temperatury i składu atmosfery. Dokonano analizy poziomu wsparcia informatycznego organizacji transportu w przedsiębiorstwach, a także wskazano możliwości, jakie dają prawidłowo stosowane nowoczesne systemy wspierające organizację. W opracowaniu zwrócono również uwagę na fakt zmian zachodzących w łańcuchach dostaw świeżych owoców i warzyw. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono eliminowaniu wybranych ogniw np. punktów skupów, w celu skracania czasu dostaw oraz obniżania kosztów funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw.

The study presents a brief overview of the current conditions of the organization transportation of fruits and vegetables, taking into account the quantity of imports and exports. Some characteristics and requirements of fruits and vegetables are presented because of their crucial meaning in the organization of transport. The analysis of transport organization in agricultural-food industry focusing on companies in fruits and vegetables sector was made and discussed. The support of IT organizations in transport companies was assessed and the feasibility of some properly applied modern systems supporting the organization was indicated. The study also highlighted the fact that the changes supply chain of fresh fruits and vegetables. Particular attention was paid to the elimination of selected cells in order to shorten delivery times and reduce costs.
