Purpose: The discussion of issues related to the seniors’ participation in cultural life. An indication of the possibilities of free time management, the current level of participation of older people in culture, sport and recreation, and comparing them with the point of view of communes. Design/methodology/approach: The seniors’ cultural activity was presented from the perspective of data from the Polish Central Statistical Office. A survey conducted in 2018 among the communes of the Małopolskie Voivodeship in cooperation with the Regional Audit Chamber in Kraków was used to develop detailed analyses. Findings: The surveyed local government units positively assessed their activities in the area of culture and entertainment of the elderly. The vast majority of the LGUs surveyed have no problems with the low level of participation of older people in cultural, recreational and sports life. Research limitations/implications: The survey was conducted in the Małopolskie Voivodeship. The research could be extended to the whole country. In the future, the point of view of officials could be correlated with the opinion of residents. Practical implications and social implications: Paying attention to the seniors’ low cultural and sports activity. The result of this study is to draw attention to the differences in the perception of the issues of seniors’ cultural and sports activity in terms of statistical data and surveyed local government units. The consequence should be a re-analysis of the problem in communes and the correction of relevant documents in this field. Originality/value: The questionnaire research in which the author participated presents the issues of seniors’ cultural and sports activity from the perspective of local government units in the Małopolska region. The article is addressed to all people who have an influence on making decisions in the field of promoting seniors’ active lifestyle.

W dzisiejszym świecie czas stał się towarem deficytowym. Problem ten dotyczy nie tylko dorosłych, ale i w coraz większym stopniu dzieci. Z uwagi na fakt, że czas wolny ma dla najmłodszych szczególne znaczenie jako czynnik stymulujący ich wszechstronny rozwój, zachodzi konieczność interdyscyplinarnych badań poświęconych temu zagadnieniu. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki przeprowadzonych przez autorkę badań sondażowych pośród dzieci mieszkających w trzech różnej wielkości i o różnym charakterze miastach województwa małopolskiego. Przedmiotem badań były preferowane przez najmłodszych formy spędzania czasu wolnego oraz miejsca, w których najchętniej wówczas przebywają. Otrzymane wyniki będą podstawą do określenia optymalnych warunków przestrzennych do wartościowego spędzania czasu przez dzieci.

Time is the deficient good in contemporary world. The lack of free time is the problem not only of adults but also more and more often of young people. In fact, free time is very important part for all children, as stimulating their coprehensive development, that is why there is a need of interdisciplinary researches to this issue. The paper presents results of the author’s survey of children in three cities of different size and charakter in Małopolska. The subject of the survey was children’s favorite way and places of spending time. The results will be a base for settlement of optimal spatial conditions of spending time in a valuable way by children.

Grupa zawodowa górników kojarzona jest nie tylko z zagrażającą życiu i zdrowiu pracą, ale również z charakterystycznymi formami spędzania wolnego czasu. Część z nich, utrwalona tradycją, kontynuowana jest przez kolejne pokolenia pracowników kopalń, stanowiąc element kultury górniczej. W artykule autorka skupiła uwagę na tych związanych z naturą: hodowlą zwierząt (gołębi pocztowych, ptactwa ozdobnego; królików i in.), "działalnością ogródkową" i wędkowaniem. Zaprezentowane materiały są efektem jej badań terenowych.

Zagadnienie czasu wolnego dzieci i młodzieży stało się w ostatnim czasie tematem przewodnim wielu opracowań. Autorzy skupiają się w nich przede wszystkim na zależności form spędzania czasu wolnego od takich czynników, jak: środowisko rodzinne, szkolne, lokalne. Obecnie pojawiają się nowe mody, hobby, zabawy, jakie wypełniają czas wolny młodzieży. Spotykamy się z nową kategorią - antykulturą ekstremalności. Nastolatki zaczęły poszukiwać nowych obszarów aktywności, które dostarczą im "adrenalinowego kopa", czy też zwrócą na nich uwagę "oka publiczności". Autorka artykułu dokonuje przeglądu definicji czasu wolnego, przedstawia rodzaje sportów ekstremalnych uprawianych przez młodzież. Głównym przedmiotem zainteresowania są formy spędzania czasu wolnego przez młodzież, które zagrażają życiu i zdrowiu oraz godzą w poczucie godności. Autorka poszukuje również odpowiedzi na pytanie o przyczyny "ekstremalnych zabaw młodych".

The issue of tree time children and youth has become a recent subject of many studies. First of all authors focus on the relation between the way the children spent their free time and the factors like family, school and local environment. Currently new trend appeared. They are hobbies, fun to fill the leisure time of youth Now we meet with a new category – counter-cultural extremality. Teens began to seek new areas o activity that will provide them with "adrenaline kick", or they want the "public eye" will pay attention on them. The article reviews the definition of tree time, shows the kinds of extreme sport activities practiced by young people. The main concerns are related forms of leisure activities for young people which threaten life and health, and threaten the sense of dignity. The main subject of interest is the way the youngsters spent their leisure time which affect their life and health, and threaten the sense of dignity. The author also seeks the answer to the question about the cause "extreme games for young people."
