In this paper methods of determination of total pyrolytic carbon and its fraction: lustrous and amorphous carbon was shown. They are used in foundry industry as carbonaceous materials, i.e. in coal dust replacements and moulding sands. The principle of model analyser working, which uses NDIR module detection, and example results of such analysis were also presented.

Content available remote Possibilities of utilizing 3DP technology for foundry mould making

Possibilities of application of three-dimensional printing (3DP) technology for making casting prototypes are discussed. Three-dimensional printing enables making of foundry moulds for elements of complex shapes. The mould presented in the paper was printed with the use of Z510 Spectrum unit in the Car Technology Sp. z o.o. (Ltd. Co.) in Kraków. The basic material for printing foundry moulds is the ZCast 501 powder. This powder is a mixture of traditional molding sand, gypsum and supplementary ingredients. The mould is made in ZCast technology, and it enables casting of zinc, magnesium and aluminum alloys at max. pouring temperature of 1100°C. The paper describes research on the possibility to utilize a standard ZP14 powder for building a rotor blade casting moulds. The research has showed that the ZP14 powder may serve for printing foundry moulds, which should then be subjected to thermo-chemical treatment. Application of the basic ZPrint system powder permits a reduction in mould manufacturing costs.

Omówiono wpływ węgla błyszczącego na jakość odlewów, metody jego oznaczania, w tym opracowany w PIE model analizatora do oznaczania węgla błyszczącego w zamiennikach pyłu węglowego oraz w masach formierskich.

In this paper, the importance of the pyrolytical carbon in the foundry process as well as the review of the analitycal methods for determination of the lustrous carbon are presented. The new methodology as well as equipment enables the direct determination of lustrous carbon in coal carriers is also presented.The analyzer is suitable for controlling the quality of carriers of lustrous carbon.

W maszynowym wykonywaniu form odlewniczych dominuje obecnie zagęszczanie dwustopniowe z wykorzystaniem doprasowania w ostatniej fazie formowania. W artykule przedstawiono analizę formowania podciśnieniowego z doprasowaniem oraz wybrane wyniki badań tej metody formowania. Opisano również występujące warianty formowania podciśnieniowego jako wstępnego etapu zagęszczenia masy. Określenie charakterystyki procesu formowania pozwoli na dobór optymalnych parametrów pracy maszyny.

In current moulding machines, two-phase compaction process is usually used. The squeezing is a final operation. In the article the analysis of vacuum moulding process as well as selected results of research of vacuum and squeezing moulding have been presented. The possible variation of vacuum moulding used as initial compaction of the mould have been also described. The evaluation of the such processes characteristics is helpful in choice of proper operation parameters of moulding machine.
