Productivity of wells completed in shale reservoirs can be strongly impacted by interactions between the reservoir formations and introduced fluid systems. Formation damage caused by these interactions is difficult to assess in tight formations and is often overlooked due to ambiguous well test results. There is increasing evidence that some shale gas wells are damaged during well completion by additives in the fluid systems that form insoluble material capable of severely blocking flow. The blockages form early in production and before flowback in severe cases. Treatment methods to chemically solubilize the damaging material have shown marked success restoring conductivity in damaged fractures and near-perf zones. Post-treatment gas production in some wells exceeds initial production rates, indicating that the damage can form early, before initial production begins, and restrict production in fractured wells. Methods of identifying and diagnosing the damage are presented.

Przedstawiono propozycję systematyki (klasyfikacji i taksonomii) formacji złożowych (surowcowych). Wyróżniono superformacje: magmatytów maficznych, alkalicznych i sialicznych złóż przejściowych, a następnie metamorfitów, rezyduantów, sedymentów, węgli i naftydów oraz geotermalną, hydrosfery, atmosfery i biosfery. W tych ramach podano formacje i subformacje złożowe. Zaproponowano kodową symbolikę dla tych wyróżnień.

A proposition of systematics (classification and taxonomy) of deposits (raw material) formations is displayed. The following superformations are distinguished: maphic, alcaline and sialic magmatites, transitory deposits, meta-morphits, residuates, sediments, carbons, naphthieds and geothermal, hydrosphere-, atmosphere- and biosphere ones. Deposit formations and subformations are presented and code-symbols proposed for them.
