A new double stator permanent magnet machine having two sets of alternating current HacI windings in separate stators is proposed in this study. The proposed machine is appropriate for low-speed direct-drive applications. 2D- and 3D-finite element analysis (FEA) is adopted in the result predictions. The considered machine elements are: coil and phase flux linkage, coil and phase induced-electromotive force (EMF), copper loss, current density and torque characteristics. The analysis shows that the studied permanent magnet HpmI machine has better electromagnetic performance than its single-stator equivalent. Moreover, the proposed machine has potential for higher reliability if the separate stators are used independently. The effect of design parameters on open-circuit flux linkage and induced-electromotive force, as well as on the average electromagnetic torque of the proposed double stator machine is also presented. It is observed that for each of the investigated design variables, there is a need to select the optimal value in order to achieve the best average torque. The investigated design parameters are: the split ratio, magnet thickness, rotor radial thickness, inner stator tooth-width, rotor inner and outer iron-width/pitch ratio, and stator yoke size.

A new cross-saturated torque model of the synchronous reluctance machine (SynRM) including a direct incorporation of cross-saturation effects is presented. Direct-quadrature (d-q axes) flux linkages for both saturation and cross-saturation conditions, obtained experimentally through current decay test using open winding fixed rotor method, are accurately curve-fitted and linearization between the two extremes yielding analytical functions for cross-coupled d-q axes flux linkages. These flux linkages are used to achieve a cross-saturated flux linkage-based torque model for highly utilized SynRM. The accuracy of the developed torque model is evaluated by comparing with the experimentally measured torque of a 5.5 kW SynRM in a dynamometer test bench which also measures and account for the effect of iron losses. The close similarity of the experimental results with the developed model proves the accuracy of the model and its suitability for direct incorporation in control algorithms of advanced SynRM drives without the use of look-up tables.

The paper presents review of the dual-channel switched reluctance motors (DCSRM) mathematical model equations. General equations structure of field-circuit direct and indirect coupled models are presented. The paper describes models for N-phase DCSRM, operating in dualchannel and single-channel mode in which the mutual coupling and iron saturation are included. Authorial new mathematical models basing on definition of non-linear inductances are reviewed.

In the paper three alternative versions of reluctance motor simulational mode! are presented. In the state space description flux or current variables are employed without any variable transformation. Simplifying assumptions made in the model formulation are omission of eddy currents and hysteresis phenomenon. Motor parameters were obtained with the help of the finite element method. Influence of mechanical damping on the calculated results for different model implementations was verified.

The paper deals with calculation of parameters of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. In addition, steady-state characteristics are calculated, too. For this purpose, Finite Element Method is applied. The results of numerical calculations are presented in figures and by diagrams. An evaluation on the influence of the parameters on the behaviour of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented. When possible, calculated parameters are compared with testing results. Experimentally and numerically obtained values are showing an excellent agreement.

W artykule przedstawiono obliczenia parametrów silnika synchronicznego z magnesami trwałymi. Wyznaczono charakterystyki stanu ustalonego metodą elementów skończonych MES. Wyniki obliczeń numerycznych przedstawiają rysunki i diagramy. Oszacowanie wpływu tych parametrów na zachowanie się silnika zostało porównane z wynikami eksperymentów - osiągnięta została doskonała zgodność.
