This paper presents the method of permeability coefficient evaluation based on laboratory tests. In Iaboratory investigations the flow-pump technique has been chosen. In this method the constant discharge capacity of water flow in the soil was applied. The results obtained from flow-pump investigation performed on peat samples indicates non-linear relationships between permeability coefficient and vertical stress as well as void ratio. This characteristic should be taken into consideration in analysis of consolidation course in soft soils.

In this paper, the results of permeability tests, which were done on organic soil, specifying of large strain and fiber structure are presented. In permeability tests the flow-pump technique was applicated. This technique is based on the constant discharge capacity of water flow in the soils sample instead of water pore pressure used in classical method of permeability coefficient evaluation. The results obtained in laboratory investigation indicated that the relationship between water flow velocity and hydraulic gradient is non-linear and change’s for different consolidation stress.
