The modern design process is based on multi-criteria optimization methods. They require at the initial stage collecting a maximum amount of reliable information. In the case of centrifugal compressor would be desirable to obtain specified performance maps in the form of a digital array. High-resolution arrays are suitable to interpolate values between their nodes. Access to digital resources is often limited, because they are an intellectual property of the certain companies. As a temporary replacement is possible, the use of the characteristics published as illustrative or design characteristics published from solutions of the previous generations. Presented article takes the issue of adapting simplified compressor characteristics to the requirements of PMDO (preliminary multidisciplinary optimization) process. Selected characteristics due to the low density of the contour lines on the map field was not suitable for direct conversion into digital form Presented map was reconstructed by the method of approximation using a polynomials of nth degree. Reverse engineered map generates correct values at compressor contour map nodes. Chosen method is characterized by low demands in terms of computational power requirements, which makes it suitable to use also in embedded microprocessor control systems. Main advantage of presented method is allowed to create a working replacement of digital map that can be used until time when inputs will be complemented by experimental data.

W artykule, przedstawiono wyniki badań przepływu dwufazowego woda olej w rurach pionowych. Omówiono wpływ parametrów przepływu i właściwości faz na rodzaj kształtujących się struktur, rzeczywiste udziały objętościowe faz oraz straty ciśnienia.

The paper presents test results of water-oil two-phase flow in vertical pipes. An influence of flow parameters and properties of phases on a type of formed flow structures, void fractions and pressure drop is discussed.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących obserwacji struktur przepływu, jak również pomiarów udziałów objętościowych faz przy przepływie mieszaniny trójfazowej powietrze — woda — olej przez łuk rurowy. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań zidentyfikowano formy przepływu trójfazowego, opracowano mapę takiego przepływu oraz określono wartości udziałów objętościowych powietrza.

Test results of hydrodynamics of three-phase flow in a pipe bend are presented in the paper. Types of flow patterns formed in a pipe bend and values of void fractions of air were determined. A map of three-phase flow in a pipe bend was elaborated.

The choice of flow structure model is a key point in cognitive analysis and mathematical modeling of two-phase flows. The problem is particularly difficult in the case of flows with large thermodynamic parameters gradients of two-phase refrigerant. Two-phase refrigerant throttling process, occurring in cryogenics and refrigerating engineering, is a good example of this problem. Both, introductory analysis and theoretical calculations results are often displayed on diagrams called "flow maps". This paper presents flow maps for two-phase refrigerant throttling process in capillary throttling elements. Additionally representation of throttling process progress is proposed. Results of theoretical analysis were confirmed by a set of experiments conducted on test bed allowing full throttling process visualization. The experiments were performed for exemplary flow cases. The experiment results were compared with results obtained by other authors.
