The changes in the river stretch by engineering constructions such as bridges afect its physical attributes and imply an impact on biological functioning. Thus, the ecological behavior of the river devises a scope for the future study correlating the probable food risk areas. The alteration of river habitat and the riparian environment have been investigated in the present study using two methods: Habitat Modification Score and Fluvial Functioning Index. The results have further considered scouting with the risk zonation map that signifes the sensitive afected zone during the high discharge phase. The study displays the impact of human intervention that shows a better river habitat condition and healthy riparian environment. It is distinctly noted along the studied reach that, the bridge construction has modifed the river channel showing poor functioning level and habitat condition. The food risk-zoning map too highlights the areas with human interventions that are likely to get afected by high food occurrences than the least intervened zones. Hence, the study ofers an insight into the bridge constructions’ ascendancy on the river habitat condition and food risk zone.

Przedstawiono sposób wyznaczania stref zagrożenia powodziowego przy zastosowaniu numerycznego modelu terenu. Określono źródła danych do budowy lego modelu z podaniem ich parametrów dokładnościowych. Przedstawiono technologię tworzenia modelu terenu z uwzględnieniem przekrojów dolinowych rzeki oraz zasady numerycznego wyznaczania zasięgów zalewu. Omówiono korzyści jakie wynikają z zastosowania narzędzi GIS do wyznaczania stref zagrożenia powodziowego.

The paper presents a method for delimitation o( flood danger zones by applying the numerical model of the area. There have been defined the sources of data utilized in creation of that model and parameters describing their accuracy. There has been also presented the technology of creation of the model taking into consideration the cross-sections of the river valley and the principles of determination of the extend of the inundation. The benefits derived from application of the GIS fools to delimitation of the zones of flood danger have been discussed.
