Działający od 1991 roku Zakład Urbanistyki i Architektury na Wydziale Budownictwa, Inżynierii Środowiska i Architektury Politechniki Rzeszowskiej w drugim dziesięcioleciu XXI wieku zaczął znacząco oddziaływać na społeczeństwo i gospodarkę. W artykule opisano wybrane przykłady badań naukowych, które wpłynęły na rozwój gospodarczy oraz rozwój społecznej świadomości problemów i zagadnień związanych z przestrzenią miejską.

The Department of Urban Planning and Architecture at the Faculty of Construction, Environmental Engineering and Architecture of Rzeszow University of Technology, which has been active since 1991, began to have a significant impact on society and the economy in the second decade of the 21st century. The article describes selected examples of research that have influenced the economic development and social awareness of urban space problems and issues.

Recreational houses (WH) of a recreational nature may constitute an offer for the development of non-standard forms of recreation proposed by the domestic tourist industry. The paper presents some selected design problems of heating an exemplary WH house. For central heating (central heating) and domestic hot water (domestic hot water), it is proposed to use a compressor heat pump. It works with the central heating installation (water underfloor heating) and hot water, and with a lower source in the form of surface water in the lake. The heat exchanger for the brine is immersed in the lake water. The methodology for calculating the dimensions of the lower heat exchanger was presented. It was proposed that it will be made in the form of two coils made of polyethylene pipes and WH float sides placed on both sides. The design solution presented in the paper meets the conditions for qualifying as using renewable energy sources (RES). It should be noted that covering the demand for electricity for the WH house, including to drive the heat pump motor and for other living purposes in a residential superstructure, is also made using a hybrid system in the form of cooperation between wind turbines and photovoltaic panels. Problems regarding the WH hybrid electricity supply system will be the subject of a separate study.

The article discusses the architectural expression of houses built on water, based on the design process of the floating house in the Czerniakowski Port in Warsaw, designed by Mai Bui Ngoc and Rafał Mazur. The question of the form of the floating house was the starting point of the work on this project. Usually buildings are designed in a specific location, which gives architects an inspiration for the design of the new form. In the case of the floating houses the goal was to make a universal artefact as a car or a phone. This artefact should be more connected to the owner than to the landscape. This artefact should be also neutral to the landscape and it should not be destructive for the surroundings. The answer lays between two archetypes; a typical house and a boat. Analysis of the existing floating houses gave the conclusion that authors of these houses were usually very close to one of these two archetypes. It is a need to put a lot of effort to design an object which does not remind a real house and a yacht design.

W artykule opisano możliwości zagospodarowania obszarów wodnych na potrzeby rozwoju obszarów miejskich. W kontekście obecnych uwarunkowań ekologicznych oraz bogactwa zasobów obszarów wodnych budownictwo wielofunkcyjne na wodzie ma duże szanse na rozwiązanie problemów dotyczą- cych braku przestrzeni na lądzie. Wiąże się to z rozszerzeniem tradycyjnego podejścia stosowanego przy projektowaniu o elementy związane ze specyfiką konstrukcji i eksploatacji budynku na wodzie, powiązania tradycyjnego budownictwa i architektury z oceanotechniką, transportem morskim i eksploatacją portów.

The paper presents the possibilities of exploitation of water resources for the purpose of city areas development. In the context of the contemporary ecological conditionings and variety of water resources the multifunctional building on the water has a big chance to solve several problems with respect to the lack of space on land. It is closely connected with the necessity of extending the traditional approach used in design for the elements dependent on building construction and operation on the water and merging the traditional building and architecture with offshore technology, waterborne transport and port operation.
