The article analyzes the artistic interpretations of objects of architectural heritage from paintings and graphics, as the basis for the formation of the modern image of the city.

W artykule przeanalizowano artystyczne interpretacje obiektów dziedzictwa architektonicznego (przedstawione w malarstwie i grafice), które są podstawą kształtowania nowoczesnego wizerunku miasta. Pokazano, że współczesny wizerunek miasta jest połączeniem „ducha miejsca” i „ducha czasu” i kształtuje się w kontekście dualizmu kulturowej uniwersalizacji i dążenia społeczności lokalnych do zachowania historycznej tożsamości krajobrazu miejskego. Opisano następujące metody odtwarzania dziedzictwa architektonicznego jako podstawy obrazu miasta przez artystów: utrata indywidualności i „zanikanie” fragmentów miejskiej rzeczywistości; międzykulturowy i międzyetniczny dialog „starego i nowego” („mozaika”, „kompozycja”) oraz „życie małego miasta w dużym” („stare miasto”, „fantazje o przeszłości”).

The article identifies the main characteristics and features of the artistic arrangement of representative public buildings in Vienna that influenced analogical objects of Lviv in the second half of the 19th century. The issue of Vienna’s historicism and its peculiarities in interior decoration are also considered. The research involved selecting and analyzing key public buildings that are present in both cities, such as theaters, universities, the Diet (in case of Vienna – the Parliament), museums, courts and other sites with a broad representative group of rooms. These revealed common trends, direct and indirect quotations, both in artistic elements and in the overall order composition. The article also explores major public buildings in Vienna along with architects who have become role models and set some standards for the artistic design of the representative group of rooms. As a result, the influencing factors were identified, among which administrative, educational, cultural and economic issues are highlighted and reviewed.

This article analyses the commonality of trends in fine art and architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. By the examples of the legacy of Wilhelm Kotarbiński, Arnold Böcklin, Oleksandr Verbytsky and Valerian Rykov it is proven how antique subjects were creatively reconsidered in the age of historicism-eclecticism and modern art. The difference between the paintings and bas-reliefs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries from the Greek images is analysed and the main features of the legacy of famous artists are determined. The distribution of a specific kind of national romanticism in Russia – the neo-Russian style of Abramtsevo and Talashkino – is characterised.

W dziedzinie architektury przeanalizowano tendencje w sztuce i architekturze końca ХІХ i początku ХХ wieków. Na przykładzie twórczości Wilhelma Kotarbińskiego, Arnolda Böcklina, Aleksandra Wierbickiego i Waleriana Rykowa udowodniono, że w dobie historyzmu-eklektyzmu i secesji ulegały twórczemu przemyśleniu wątki antyczne. Zbadano różnice między malowidłami i płaskorzeźbami z końca ХІХ i początku ХХ wieku a greckimi obrazami. Określono indywidualne cechy twórczości znanych malarzy. Scharakteryzowano specyficzną odmianę narodowego romantyzmu w Rosji – neorosyjski styl Abramcewa i Tałaszkina.

Показано, что монтаж можно трактовать как способ освоения город- ского пространства, отражения современной мозаичной картины мира и создания множества новых реальностей города в изобразительном искусстве.

In the article compositional methods of installation in the city images by modern Belarusian artists are considered. It is shown that the installation can be interpreted as a way of mastering the urban space, reflecting the modern mosaic picture of the world and creating many new realities of the city in the visual arts.

Artykuł zawiera porównanie sytuacji sztuk wizualnych dawniej oraz w warunkach funkcjonowania mediów elektronicznych, w tym społecznościowych. Autor wskazuje, że niektórzy artyści zaczynają wykorzystywać nowe media jako nowe narzędzie kreowania oraz upowszechniania dzieł sztuki. Eksperymentując z możliwościami mediów elektronicznych wykształcają niejako nowe narzędzia kreowania przekazu artystycznego.

The paper comparise the situation of visual art in the past and under conditions of digital media operating, including social ones. The author indicates that some artists start to use a new media as a new tool for creating and to spread art works. Experiments with potentials of digital media they construct new tools of artistic message creation.

The article presents the changes that have taken place in the educational program in the field of fine arts at the Silesian University of Technology Faculty of Architecture since the 90s of the twentieth century to the present. They were caused by the new laws and rules relating to higher education, adapting it to the requirements of the European Union. There was a reduction of some courses of art and number of teaching hours while increasing the size of student groups. Observation of change leads to the impoverishment for aesthetic sensitivity and artistic skills of students, which is essential in communicating your design ideas. The results of analyzes were obtained on the basis of participant observation of teachers lecturing on the above mentioned subject.

Artykuł prezentuje zmiany, jakie zaszły w programie nauczania przedmiotów z zakresu sztuk pięknych na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Śląskiej od lat 90. XX wieku do teraz. Spowodowane były nowymi ustawami i zasadami dotyczącymi szkolnictwa wyższego, dostosowującymi je do wymogów Unii Europejskiej. Wystąpiła redukcja niektórych przedmiotów plastycznych i liczby godzin dydaktycznych przy równoczesnym zwiększeniu liczebności grup studenckich. Obserwacja zachodzących zmian prowadzi do sformułowania wniosków o zubożeniu wrażliwości estetycznej i umiejętności plastycznych studentów, co jest niezbędne w przekazywaniu własnych idei projektowych. Wyniki analiz uzyskano na podstawie obserwacji uczestniczącej pracowników dydaktycznych prowadzących zajęcia z wyżej wymienionego przedmiotu.

Autorefleksja artysty nad własną twórczością: tym jej wątkiem, który zanurzony jest w bieżących zdarzeniach polityki, sztuki, obyczajowości. Autor przywołuje filozofów i myślicieli od starożytności po wiek XX i ich zmagania z nikczemnością świata, dochodząc do własnych obserwacji, które przekłada na język sztuki: zarówno symbolicznej, w dużej mierze refleksyjnej, jak i publicystycznej, obierającej ze swej istoty ryzykowną drogę komentowania bieżącej rzeczywistości.

The article contains self-reflection of the artist of his own works; this part of the works connected with current facts of politics, art, customs and tradition. The author cites philosophers and thinkers since antiquity till the 20th century and theirs’ fights against wickedness of the world. The conclusions he achieve he translates to the language of art: both symbolic, mostly reflective, and commentary, choosing risky way of current events’ comment.
