The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming a permanent element of the long-term strategy of many organizations. Companies focus on environmental aspects by promoting a number of campaigns related to protection of the natural environment and creating ecological awareness within their employees, which, in today's world (especially in the light of various threats associated with it) is of considerable importance. The main aim of the article is to show the correlation between the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility and the idea of Sustainable Development. In addition to defining key concepts, this article will present the results of surveys carried out among the employees of the Silesian Voivodeship, in which they expressed their opinion on the analyzed issue. The research method of the study was a diagnostic poll, the technique - a survey and the research tool - a questionnaire. It stems from them that the vast majority of respondents agree with the main thesis of the deliberations, according to which the concept of CSR constitutes one of the determinants of the idea of Sustainable Development.

This article presents managing changes, challenges and possibilities of intermodal nodes and network in a still transitional region of South-East Europe in order to assure sustainable cargo mobility in this part of Europe. The main thesis that transport and logistics sector in Northern and Southern European regions are completely different, using different infrastructure and the degree of automation, and with completely different managing philosophies has been persecuted. Consequently a research of sixteen main port systems in the region has been performed. According to obtained analyses, national states and economies have strong impacts on the development of national infrastructure and managing it. In addition, traditional managing philosophies are still very important, where the state has the power to decide when and how organizational and structural changes will occur. The private capital did not enter the intermodal infrastructure significantly over the last twenty years of transition. This is reflected in scarce competition and slow development. Intermodal nodes must cooperate between each other and develop possible synergies because according to the results obtained almost 90% of all traffic going through ports in South-East Europe is for local economies. The concept of nodal distribution is not present; therefore, logistics optimization is possible and inevitable. For this reason a model of port classification has been worked-out, where all sixteen ports have been classified according to their actual position and regional role.

W gospodarce każdego kraju zachodzą zmiany polityczne i ekonomiczne mające wpływ na kształtowanie i funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw. Silne oddziaływanie ich otoczenia powoduje konieczność transformacji w sferze organizacyjnej i produkcyjnej. Ewolucję przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego wspierają współczesne koncepcje zarządzania produkcja. Należy do nich m.in. lean manufacturing - obecnie jeden z najbardziej popularnych systemów produkcji, służący do organizacji procesów produkcyjnych. Niniejsze opracowanie jest poświęcone zagadnieniu lean manufacturing jako filozofii zarządzania.

Political and economical changes, which are placed in economy of all countries, have an influence on shape and function firms. Strong surroundings interaction is the reason of transformation in two areas: organization and production. Company evolution is supported by contemporary concepts of production management. Lean Manufacturing is belonged to them, it is one of the most common production system used to organize production process. This story is devoted to Lean Manufacturing as a philosophy of management.

W niniejszej publikacji autor prezentuje jedną z nowoczesnych koncepcji zarządzania, często nazywaną filozofią zarządzania, a mianowicie: Business Processing Reengineering (BPR). Zainteresowanie zrodziło się stąd, że jest to koncepcja zarządzania, która, zdaniem autora, powinna znaleźć powszechne zastosowanie w naszej rzeczywistości, bowiem bardziej przystaje do współczesności niż dotychczas stosowane ciągłe procesy doskonalenia (Continous Process Improvement). Inspiracją i głównym materiałem źródłowym była przestudiowana książka zespołu naukowców wrocławskiej Akademii Ekonomicznej pod redakcją Mieczysława Przybyły: Organizacja i zarządzanie. In this publication the Author presents one of the modern management conceptions, often called management philosophy, namely: Business Processing Reengineering (BPR). The interest in the topic was aroused from the fact, that it is a management conception, which - according to the Author - should find general application, because it squares with the present time to a larger extent than so far applied continuous process improvement. The inspiration and main source material is a book written by a group of scientists from Wroclaw University of Economics edited by Mieczysław Przybyła: Organisation and management. Kaizen - methodology is Japanese origin and means continuous improvement everywhere in company for to obtain better effects, even by very small steps, resulting with positive achievements and progress. For some Japanese companies it is a "method of life" in consideration of constantly growing international competitiveness. It forms the base for such systems like: JIT-just in Time (Toyota Production System), Lean Production, TPM-Total Productive Maintenance and TQM-Total Quality Management. Many of improvements are based on common sense used and applied by creative thinking of employees. In Western countries there are 2 performances utilized in management: to maintain the status quo and to develop innovations. The first one is linked to management standards, to operational procedures, to policy principles, and so on. Innovations mean the progress in free form, by small steps or by big jumps, sometimes doing a significant breakthrough in company life. In such case it needs actually very often the advanced technology, bigger investment costs, progressive know-how, etc. Normally they are included to the factor ROI (return on investment) having in mind the return of money spend formerly. The observations and comparative presentation of both ways are in the article demonstated and discussed.

Do stosunkowo bogatego już arsenału metod i technik, jakimi może się poszczycić teoria i praktyka zarządzania dołączyła w ostatnim czasie jeszcze jedna błyskotliwa koncepcja. Po rewolucyjnych ruchach (a może jedynie przejściowych stylach w organizatorskiej modzie?), takich jak: zarządzanie przez cele, just-in-time, total quality managemant, business process reengineering... nadeszła przełomowa epoka knowledge management.

In last years appeared a new concept in the reach scope of management theories and ideas. The knowledge management presents a new point of view for the company development and its competitiveness in incoming next century. The value of knowledge, being in heads of employees and in organizations, will increase productivity of whole structures if it will correctly used and applied. Practically is it an integration process of many creative and innovative processes existing and developed in company. The presentation of its possibilities and opportunities forms the intellectual base of the article context.
