W artykule przedstawiono problemy dotyczące zagrożeń terrorystycznych dla infrastruktury transportowej. Zakres infrastruktury transportowej uległ rozszerzeniu, obejmuje infrastrukturę transportu kolejowego, śródlądowego, drogowego, morskiego, lotniczego, intermodalnego oraz inteligentne systemy transportowe (ITS). Na podstawie analiz należy stwierdzić, że na świecie infrastruktura transportowa jest zagrożona potencjalnymi atakami terrorystycznymi, w szczególności infrastruktura transportu drogowego i kolejowego (około 23%), w mniejszym stopniu infrastruktura transportu morskiego i powietrznego (około 2%). Kroki prawne, dotyczące zwalczania terroryzmu, zostały podjęte na poziomie międzynarodowym, ponadto powołano w tym zakresie instytucje na szczeblu ONZ, NATO oraz UE.

The paper presents problems of terrorism threats for transportation infrastructure. The range of transportation infrastructure has spread and includes railway, inland waterways, road, maritime, air, intermodal transport infrastructure and intelligent transport systems (ITS). Based on the analyses, transportation infrastructure is potentially threatened with terrorism attacks, especially road and rail infrastructure (about 23%), and to a smaller degree the maritime and air transport infrastructure (about 2%). Legal steps to fight terrorism have been taken on the international level; furthermore, some institutions have been established for this purpose at the UN, NATO and UE level.

The content of the article refers to units functioning in Israel and assigned to physical fighting against terrorism. This country has undoubtedly the greatest experience to fight this phenomenon and its knowledge is used by many countries. In the introduction the author discusses the genesis of appearing and transformation the General Staff Intelligence Unit, Sayeret Mat’kal from a military special unit into anti- terrorist unit. From the article it results a relation between the service in this exclusive unit and the participation in the Israeli political life. There are given examples of this country’s in leading political world representatives careers, Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu including, whose career started in serving in this unit. The rest of the article concerns police anti-terrorist unit, YAMAM. The author presents a historical outline of this unit creation, existing in border police, main tasks for which it was established, the recruitment system for the candidates to this service. Some aspects of specialistic training have been touched on, particularly in the basic training context of this service candidates. Basic combat means of police assault units and transport means with the stress on reconnaissance vehicle equipment have been discussed. The author described the unit’s ways to achieve their own tactical solutions on the example of the team of pyrotechnists functioning in the unit dealing with using explosives to overcome such obstacles as walls, bars, closed doors and in this context conducting actions connected with rescuing hostages. The author has focused on these aspects and these solutions appearing in YAMAM which are different from our Polish ones and, at the same time, are worth paying attention and adaptation in our conditions. The content of the article is the result of the author’s visit in an Israeli anti-terrorist police unit.
