The purpose of this study is to discuss how "Chinese-style" clothing is integrated into the international fashion market by applying traditional Chinese clothing design elements in the context of globalization. This research defined four design elements of traditional Chinese clothing through literature analysis, which mainly consisted of colors, silhouettes, fabrics and crafts. Then professional researchers selected four representative enterprises oriented to the international market from a large quantity of "Chinese-style" enterprises and compared the design works officially released by the four "Chinese-style" enterprises with the four design elements by Nvivo12. Through analyzing 1,176 pieces of Chinese-style design works of the four representative enterprises, the study found that "Chinese-style" enterprises oriented to the international market comprehensively apply traditional Chinese clothing design elements to conduct innovative design to show their own cultural identities to a large extent.

This research adopted literature analysis methods to explain the principles and types of line illusion and, secondly, using Grasshopper software generated some fashion design samples with visual illusion element application. Then semantic analysis was applied to investigate audiences’ cognition, with the aim to improve the design. Lastly, Grasshopper software was used to generate new design patterns by changing the set of generated points through algorithm operation and dotted line interference to change the presented linear illusion forms and patterns. The results of this research show that with the support of parametric technology, the opportunities and space for creating line elements in clothing will be further expanded, enabling that real-time pattern or apparel design changes, and adjustments can be realized by parameter variable controlling. The research comprised a new attempt at combining linear visual illusion, fashion design and parametric design, showing the content and design case studies for relevant research in this area.

In 1995, the Japanese manufacturer Shima Seiki introduced the first complete garment knitting machine capable of producing a ready-made flat knitted article under the trade name WholeGarment. Recently , the comp any also developed a co-design software tool, Ordermade WholeGarment®, for the customisation of knitted fashion garments. Factory Boutique Shima, their retail shop for on-demand production of customised knitted garments, makes it possible for client s to modify a knitted garment according to personal taste in style, colour , pattern and size. This study examines how such a process streamlines the interaction between customer and shop personnel, while expediting the programming of the knitting machine. In comparing the manual co-design process with the Ordermade WholeGarment® system, we used a computer simulation to analyse the efficiency and lead times of each concept. The case study method was employed with an inductive approach based on company visits and interviews.

Philosophy - how the analyses of the interdependancy of all relevant protective clothing components lead to taking measures across the entire value chain: knowledge of application areas and market requirements, supplier selection, laminate development and production, microporous membranes - waterproof yet breathable and durable, seam sealing, garment design & engineering, twelve performance standards, rain, climate and field tests, certification, support for manufacturers and brand licensing.
