Large PV installations are being built increasingly often in areas close to airports in Poland and around the world. These are not only roof installations but also large PV farms, allowing not only the supply of the energy for the airport itself but also the ability to sell the excess energy produced. The applied PV installations may cause in some cases negative impact in the form of e.g., electromagnetic fields and light reflections which may limit the visibility of pilots and air traffic controllers. The article presents an overview of various negative impacts of PV farms on the workings of an airport and the main factors influencing the occurrence of certain threats have been diagnosed. An assessment of the usefulness of the tool and method for simulation and the reduction of possible negative impacts is also presented.

Polski rynek fotowoltaiczny jest obecnie piątym w UE pod względem przyrostu mocy zainstalowanej, zaś według prognoz Instytutu Energetyki Odnawialnej w bieżącym roku może zająć nawet czwarte miejsce. Wartość rynku PV w Polsce pod względem obrotów sięga już 5 mld zł rocznie. Zapotrzebowanie na dostawy sprzętu fotowoltaicznego ciągle rośnie – ze względu nie tylko na silną pozycję prosumentów, ale również na rozwijanie projektów farm PV czy fotowoltaiki wielkoskalowej.

Bulgaria is a country with good sunshine conditions, which makes it an attractive place for investments connected with solar energy. Therefore, Bulgaria became a leader amongst the European Countries in photovoltaics development. However, the current legal situation in Bulgaria concerning Renewable Energy Sources has changed dramatically, which is connected with growing financial burden rhat investors must bear. This has significant impact on the economic efficiency of remaining photovoltaic farms. A detailed analysis of five photovoltaic farms located in different parts of Bulgaria was conducted. The farms were built between May and August 2012. Taking into account that building a PV farm is a one-time investment, the economic efficiency is determined mainly by the price of power sold to the distribution network. In the long run, the overhead and maintenance costs become irrelevant, as the profitability depends on the feed-in-tariff rates, as well as the geographical and climatic conditions.

„Energetyka" sp. z o.o. w lipcu 2014 roku zakończyła pierwszy etap budowy dwóch pilotażowych farm fotowoltaicznych w Legnicy i Głogowie. Spółka jest również zaangażowana w projekt budowy farmy PV przy kopalni miedzi Sierra Gorda w Chile. W mijającym roku KGHM powierzył też spółce „Energetyka" rolę operatora bloków gazowo-parowych w Polkowicach i Głogowie.
