Health monitoring of composite car roof failure under effect of different impact velocity

During this work, the roof of the car was used as an engineering application to study and monitor the occurrence of failures under the influence of various loads. The shells are made of multilayer composite materials using epoxy resin reinforced with carbon fiber and aluminium oxide granules as reinforcing materials to increase the impact resistance that vehicles may be exposed to while driving, in addition to other loads and conditions such as vibration and constant exposure to moisture and sunlight. The simulation program was used the finite elements method through software Abaqus program in addition to the program MATLAB v.2020a to process the data obtained from the method that used in this study. The results showed that the specified failure criteria work well for predicting the overall structural response such as strain, stress, maximum force and displacement. The losses of energy of impact collision increase as an increase in impact velocity. The dissipation of energy which depend on the stress and strain distribution during elastic deformations. The effect of thickness of the lamina plays an important role in health monitoring the structure.

Effectivness of the failure rate on maintenance costs of the city buses

The purpose of this paper was to present a failure rate and maintenance cost comparison for two types of city transport buses. The paper presents in detail a case study of well known bus brands used at Municipal Transport Company in Lublin. A failure index of all functional and constructional systems of the vehicles and their technical availability with regards to calendar time was determined. The paper also presents analysis of the factors related to maintenance costs of buses, including costs of fluids, repair costs and maintenance service. It has been demonstrated, that both analyzed buses generate similar maintenance costs, while their failures and technical availability differ significantly in operational practice. These differences are particularly evident in relation to the cumulative costs of repairs.

Celem pracy było porównanie wpływu częstości uszkodzeń dwóch marek autobusów miejskich na koszty ich utrzymania. Przedstawiono szczegółowo studium przypadku na przykładzie znanych marek autobusów, użytkowanych w Miejskim Przedsiębiorstwie Komunikacyjnym w Lublinie. Wyznaczono wskaźniki uszkodzeń wszystkich układów funkcjonalno - konstrukcyjnych autobusów oraz ich gotowość techniczną w funkcji czasu kalendarzowego. W artykule zaprezentowano również analizę czynników związanych z kosztami eksploatacji autobusów, w tym m.in. koszty płynów eksploatacyjnych, koszty napraw i obsług. Wykazano, że w praktyce eksploatacyjnej w analizowanym okresie czasu pojazdy obu marek generują podobne koszty użytkowania, natomiast ich uszkodzenia oraz gotowość techniczna różnią się znacząco. Wymienione różnice są szczególnie widoczne w zakresie skumulowanych kosztów napraw.
