Automatic heart ventricle segmentation in CT heart images can be an element of system supporting pulmonary embolism diagnosis. To solve that problem in this paper an application of two classical active contour models, snakes and geometric active contours, is proposed. The prepared implementation uses the unified model of those techniques which allows to define forces acting upon a contour only once. The nature of the images causes that the process of force construction requires additional expert knowledge since using only the information visible in the image satisfactory results cannot be obtained.

This paper reports on a part of a project aimed at building an probabilistic model for integrated software quality simulation and prediction. This paper discusses results of the questionnaire survey focused on gathering expert knowledge about the factors influencing various features of software quality. Specifically, this analysis identifies project and process factors of software quality, investigates relationships between quality features and their sub-features as well as priorities for quality features. The survey has been performed among software engineering experts and projects managers. Obtained results will be used to calibrate that model for software quality simulation and prediction. These results also partially deliver a general overview on how software quality features are perceived by industry.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane możliwości pozyskania i wykorzystania wiedzy nawigatorów do analizy i oceny bezpieczeństwa nawigacyjnego na akwenach ograniczonych. Reprezentacja pozyskanej wiedzy w tym zakresie umożliwia implementację kryteriów oceny bezpieczeństwa w nawigacyjnych systemach informatycznych. Pozwala to na pełniejsze uwzględnienie czynnika ludzkiego w procesach wspomagania podejmowania decyzji nawigacyjnych.

Some possibilities of using the knowledge of navigators for the analysis and assessment of navigational safety in restricted areas are presented. The representation of acquired knowledge in this field enables implementation of safety assessment criteria in navigational information systems. This, in turn, allows to better take into consideration the human factor in navigational decision support processes.

The paper presents new approach to the reliability importance analysis which is main topic of the author’s last research. The concept of comprehensive qualitative-quantitative method for the importance analysis for complex technical systems components has been shown. Extension of importance criteria of components to: safety, maintainability, spare parts waiting time and other factors has been proposed. Research conception, plan and final conclusions have been shown. The application of expert knowledge and reliability databases in case of limited knowledge about the system have been proposed.

Rozważamy narzędzie wspomagające budowanie bazy wiedzy. Punkt wyjścia stanowią: baza danych, ontologia odniesienia oraz niesformalizowana wiedza eksperta. Budujemy pierwotną bazę wiedzy odkrywając ontologię ze schema­tu bazy danych i specyfikując za pomocą relacji ontologicznych powiązania pomiędzy atrybutami bazy. W kolejnych krokach baza pierwotna jest wzbogacana o zapisywane do niej efekty wykonywanych zapytań.

We consider the tool supporting the creation of a knowledge base (KB). It uses as the input elements: a database, a referential ontology and the expert knowledge. We reveal the ontology from a database schema and we specify connections between database attributes by means of the ontological relations, forming the primary KB. It is then incrementally extended by the results of executed queries.

The paper presents the method of describing the connections between the process components and the elements of a diagnostic system with the use of the set of relatively simple relations. Such a structure created at the configuration stage includes the information about the diagnostic relation. The method of an automatic determination of the preliminary diagnostic relation based on connections written down in the hierarchical structure was proposed. Considered algorithm was illustrated based on a real application for simple, exemplary process.

W artykule zaprezentowano metodę opisu struktury połączeń elementów procesu oraz systemu diagnostycznego za pomocą stosunkowo prostych i intuicyjnych relacji. Tak utworzona na etapie konfiguracji systemu diagnostycznego struktura zawiera informacje o relacji diagnostycznej. Zaproponowano metodę automatycznego wyznaczania wstępnej relacji diagnostycznej za podstawie zależności występujących w zaproponowanej strukturze hierarchicznej. Rozważany algorytm został zaprezentowany na rzeczywistym przykładzie prostego stanowiska.

Results of the synthesis and analysis of chosen diagnosing methods, on the example of the problem of faults localization in motorcar's electrical equipment's, were presented.
