The paper is an attempt to assess usefulness of the results of projects conducted by the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography and the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture, concerning the creation of Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS) databases used by the starostes in the process of comprehensive modernization of land and buildings cadastre. The paper discusses the scope and basic objectives of LPIS projects, currently under implementation. It gives basic information concerning technology of creation and standardization of LPIS cadastral map databases, while using already existing cadastral materials. It also discusses the principles of quality control and assessment of documents resulting from the implementation of LPIS projects. Last but not least, the authors tried to analyze and review current actions of the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography related to the application of the results of LPIS projects for the purposes of comprehensive modernization of land and buildings cadastre.
