The role of event marketing in creating tourist experience

The aim of this article is to make an attempt at discovering how events, as a communication channel of event marketing, complement promotional strategies of towns and regions through their psychological impact on tourists. The study is based on the concept of event marketing, which emphasises the undeniable role of emotions and experiences in the process of satisfying social needs. It can be assumed that the presented conclusions are true for all events dedicated to tourist promotion of the region. Providing theoretical foundations, the article demonstrates that self-government units are ever more often using event-based strategies, since they increasingly employ the model of competition in the tourism market based on tourists’ emotions and experiences rather than on the material resources of the place.

Marketing terytorialny jednostki samorządowej jest odpowiedzialny za zaspokajanie potrzeb oraz oczekiwań lokalnej społeczności. W tym celu jednostki samorządowe sięgają miedzy innymi po szereg narzędzi promocji, która pełni szereg ważnych dla miasta funkcji. Organizacja różnego typu wydarzeń oraz promowanie ich zarówno pośród mieszkańców miasta, jak i odbiorców zewnętrznych, jest częścią prowadzonego przez miasto marketingu terytorialnego. Marketing jest częścią procesu zarządzania miastem, właściwym zatem staje się kierowanie oferty zarówno do członków wspólnoty samorządowej jak i odbiorców zewnętrznych jakimi są miedzy innymi turyści czy odwiedzający. Artykuł przedstawia trzy wydarzenia zorganizowane na stadionie Energa Gdańsk (dawniej PGE Arena) w latach 2014-2015 oraz wskazuje ich celowość w promocji turystycznej miasta.

Territorial marketing of local government contributes to meet the expectations and needs of the local community . For this purpose local governments reach, among other things for the promotion of a number of tools that fulfill a number of important functions for the city. Organizing of various events and promoting them among the locals as well the external customers, is a part of a territorial marketing conducted by the city. Marketing is a part of the process of city management, therefore, it is necessery to address the offer to the members of the local community and to the external customers like tourists or visitors. This article presents three events that were organized at the Stadium Energa in Gdansk (formerly PGE Arena) in 2014-2015, and indicates their purposefulness for the tourist promotion of the city.

Jednym z czynników określających stan bezpieczeństwa lotów cywilnych w Polsce jest liczba i przyczyny zdarzeń lotniczych. Ryzyko w transporcie (szczególnie lotniczym i kolejowym) jest tradycyjnie utożsamiane z wypadkami, które przynoszą dużą liczbę ofiar śmiertelnych i wielkie straty finansowe. W publikacji opisano analizę stanu bezpieczeństwa wykonaną na podstawie sprawozdań ze zdarzeń w lotnictwie cywilnym Polski w latach 2003-2009. Polskie prawo lotnicze ze względów praktycznych zawęziło liczbę kategorii zdarzeń do trzech: wypadek, incydent lotniczy i poważny incydent lotniczy [1].

One of the factors determining the security situation of the flights of civil aircrafts in Poland is the number and causes of the aviation events. Transport risk (especially in air transport and railway transport ) is normally associated with accident types characterized by high death toll together with big financial losses. In this publication the analysis of the safety situation has been described, which has been carried out on the basis of reports from the aviation events taking place in the period between 2003 and 2009. Polish law has because of the practical reasons reduced the number of events' categories to three of them: air accident, aviation incident and serious incident by air [1].

Województwo Zachodniopomorskie posiada korzystny układ dróg służący obsłudze przewozów osób i ładunków, jednak jego jakość nie jest zadawalająca. Zły stan nawierzchni, brak obwodnic, dwupoziomowych skrzyżowań, utwardzonych poboczy determinuje bezpieczeństwo ruchu drogowego. Skutki wypadków drogowych są tu bardziej tragiczne w porównaniu do średniej krajowej, szczególnie w zakresie liczby ofiar wypadków i liczby zabitych. Celem strategicznym krajowego programu bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego jest zmniejszenie liczby ofiar śmiertelnych o 50%. Ma to nastąpić przez budowę nowych oraz modernizację istniejących dróg. Komisja Europejska zamierza zapewnić wszystkim regionom budowę dostępnego i zintegrowanego systemu transportowego w celu poprawy bezpieczeństwa drogowego. Województwo Zachodniopomorskie ma również szansę na stworzenie bezpiecznej sieci dróg i zmniejszenie liczby wypadków drogowych oraz tragicznych ich skutków.

West Pomeranian voivodship possesses the profitable system of ways the domestic to the service of transports of persons and loads, however his quality is not the good. The poor condition of the pavement, the lack of ring roads, having two planes crossings, hardened sidespaces determines the road safety. Results of traffic accidents are here more tragical comparatively to the national average, especially within the range death tolls of events and numbers dead. A strategic aim of the national program of the road safety is the diminution of the death toll about 50%. Has this to follow through the construction new and the modernization of existing ways. The European committee intends to assure all regions the construction {build} of the accessible and integrated forwarding system for the purpose of of the improvement of the road-safety. West Pomeranian voivodship has also a chance on the creation of the safe road network and the diminution of the number of traffic accidents and tragical of their results.

A method of extending software applications by introducing elements of environmental context information is presented in the paper. The definition of context is based on the general context ontology. The information coming from the environment is transformed into certain execution conditions. As an algorithm of the transformation, a Petri net was used. It enables the application to properly react to certain events occurring in the environment. This is how “pervasive computing” applications are constructed.

We have already examined the worldwide trends for outcomes (measured as accidents, errors and events) using data available for large complex technological systems with human involvement. That analysis was a dissection of the basic available, published data on real and measured risks, for trends and inter-comparisons of outcome rates. We found and showed how all the data agreed with the learning theory when the accumulated experience is accounted for. Here, learning includes both positive and negative feedback, directly or indirectly, as a result of prior outcomes or experience gained, in both the organizational and individual contexts. Our purpose here and now is to try to introduce some predictability and insight into the risk or occurrence of these apparently random events. In seeking such a general risk prediction we adopt a fundamental theoretical approach that is and must be testable against the world’s existing data. Comparisons with outcome error data from the world’s commercial airlines, the two shuttle failures, and from nuclear plant operator transient control behaviour, show a reasonable level of accord. The results demonstrate that the risk is dynamic, and that it may be predicted using the MERE learning hypothesis and the minimum failure rate, and can be utilized for predictive risk analysis purposes.

20 years of event stratigraphy in NW Germany; advances and open questions

The application of event stratigraphy in the Cenomanian to Lower Coniacian (Upper Cretaceous) Plńnerkalk Gruppe of northwestern Germany has advanced stratigraphic resolution considerably. For a short interval in the Upper Turonian, various genetically variable events (bioevents, tephroevents, stable isotope marker, eustatoevents) are reviewed and new data are partly added. In addition, the lateral litho and biofacies changes within individual events are discussed and provide a basis for a tentative high-resolution correlation between distal and proximal settings. The dense sequence of events permits a stratigraphic resolution of 50 - 100ky for some intervals. Beyond stratigraphic purposes, the alternation of fossil barren intervals with thin fossil beds still demands explanations. As taphonomic processes are considered to be play only a minor role, other explanations are required. It appears that trophic aspects and a calibration of planktic and benthic faunal assemblages may result in a better understanding of this biosedimentary system and its faunal characteristics.

Niektóre tylko zdarzenia tytonu-hoterywu, udokumentowane w sukcesji reglowej dolnej Tatr, można skorelować jednoznacznie ze zdarzeniami wyróżnionymi wcześniej na obszarze Karpat Zachodnich. W profilach tatrzańskich, turbidyty ogniwa z Krytej formacji margli z Kościeliskiej (fm.) dokładnie odpowiadają zdarzeniu orawickiemu dolnego walanżynu. W Tatrach Zachodnich została stwierdzona koincydencja walanżyńskiego zdarzenia izotopowego ?13C z wyraźnie niższą zawartością mikroplanktonu, a zwłaszcza radiolarii, w wapieniach osadzonych na przełomie dolnego i górnego walanżynu. Podobnie jak walanżyńskie zdarzenie izotopowe, ekspansja otwornic planktonicznych w górnym hoterywie (najwyższa część poziomu Tintinnopsella) miała zasięg ponadregionalny, daleko wykraczający poza obszar Zachodnich Karpat. W głębokowodnym basenie kriżniańskim korelacja zdarzeń biotycznych i innych tytonu-hoterywu z eustatycznymi zmianami poziomu morza, chociaż prawdopodobna, nie we wszystkich przypadkach może być uznana za w pełni udowodnioną.

In the Tithonian-Hauterivian deposits of the Lower Subtatric succession of the Tatra Mountains (Western Carpathians), only a few events of biotic, sedimentary and isotopic character can be correlated with those recently proposed for the whole West Carpathian area. In the Western Tatra Mts, the turbidites of the Kryta Member (Kościeliska Marl Formation) correlate well with the Early Valanginian Oravice event. The Valanginian isotopic carbon event coincided with a minimum of microplankton content (especially radiolarians) in limestones deposited at the Lower/Upper Valanginian boundary. Expansion of planktonie foraminifers during the Late Hauterivian was another widespread event observed in the Tatra Mts, other areas of the Western Carpathians and outside these mountains. Correlation of the Tithonian-Hauterivian events with eustatic sea-level changes, although probable, has not been fully documented as for cerns some events recognised in the deep-water Kriźna basin.
