This article presents the test results of injection processes of diesel-bioethanol fuel blends on a high pressure common rail injection system. The injection characteristics were analyzed using the injection rate measuring instrumentation. The injection rate, cycle injection quantity, injection delay and injection duration were analyzed across a range of injection pressure and injection energizing time. As the results show, the peak injection rate and delay of diesel-ethanol blends are lower compared to diesel fuel. The injection duration and discharge coefficients of diesel-ethanol blends were lower than those of diesel fuel. It was observed that fuel density and fuel viscosity have significant influence on the injection characteristics.

Celem badań, których wyniki zamieszczono w niniejszym artykule, jest określenie wpływu wybranych udziałów objętościowych etanolu w oleju napędowym na właściwości samozapłonowe tak przygotowanego paliwa. Jako miara skłonności paliwa do samozapłonu wykorzystana została pochodna liczba cetanowa. Pomiaru pochodnej liczby cetanowej (DCN) dokonano przy użyciu aparatu umożliwiającego spalanie w komorze o stałej objętości. Wyniki oznaczeń porównano z wymaganiami legislacyjnymi i normatywnymi, jakim podlega olej napędowy.

The aim of the researches presented in this paper was to determine the effect of some volume fractions of ethanol in the diesel fuel on the self-ignition properties for such prepared fuel. As a measure of the susceptibility of fuel to self-ignition derived cetane number was used. The measurement of derived cetane number (DCN) was made with a device enabling combustion in constant volume chamber. The results were compared with the legislative and standard requirements for diesel fuel.
