On the beach at the foot of the Orłowo Cliff (northern Poland), numerous erratics that were transported there by ice sheets from Scandinavia andsome Baltic regions can be found. Sedimentary rocks, important to palaeontological studies, contain numerous fossils and, among others, arthropods. One of the most common rock types here is beyrichian limestone. Its fossil content allows us to recognize many varieties, such as Calymene lime-stone, Nucula limestone, Elevatus limestone and others. The present study concentrated main lyon trilobites found in these rocks and belonging to two genera: Calymene and Acaste.

The Przedbórz region in the Przedborska Upland (central Poland) is characterized by an above-average presence of erratic boulders. They have never been the subject of separate studies before. The aim of this article is to indicate their large population in central Poland and to characterize the traces of the impact of various morphogenetic processes on their current size and shape. The authors indicate the Scandinavian source areas of some of the studied erratic boulders. The article also highlights the scientific, educational, social and aesthetic function of erratic boulders, which should be used when planning the sustainable development of the region. In peripheral tourist areas, geotourism is an effective tool for economic growth. The erratic boulders discussed in the article, which are unique objects of natural heritage, have great potential to revive this branch of nature tourism.

The article describes 19 erratic boulders of the northwestern margin of the Holy Cross Mountains pointing to their Scandinavian source area. For each boulder, the location, the form of its protection, petrographic type, morphology, and the present and potential significance are also given.

The geological heritage of Pruszków is absent in the inhabitants’ consciousness, even though it is within their reach. In addition to the short characteristics of geodiversity of the area, the paper also presents eight large boulders and other stone elements in the town. They have a great potential in playing cognitive, educational, cultural-historical, geo-conservative and aesthetic roles. These functions can be used in the development of urban geotourism and in shaping the town’s image in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

Na przykładzie głazów narzutowych ze żwirowni Łubienica-Superunki zaprezentowano ich walory naukowe, edukacyjne, estetyczne oraz wartości kulturowe i konserwatorskie. Wskazano także potencjał geoturystyczny, jaki ukryty jest wśród dużych eratyków skandynawskich, znajdujących się na terenie Polski.

The scientific, educational, aesthetic, cultural and conservation values of erratic boulders have been presented on the example of boulders from the Łubienica-Superunki gravel pit. The potential of geotourism, which is hidden among Scandinavian boulders, is also indicated.

The major attraction of the Drawa National Park is its main river, the Drawa. However, the park includes also other georesources that have a large natural potential to become geovalues, received by tourists as its geoproducts. This may lead to develop geotourism, which is a tool of sustainable socio-economic development of the region. The article presents the erratic boulders, which are primarily the objects of geological heritage. Erratic material is also present in the cultural heritage of the region, e.g. in the churches, cobbled roads, hydraulic engineering constructions or as stone monuments, signposts, and forest departmental posts.

The paper presents the results of erratic boulders studies in the area of Trójmiejski Landscape Park (TLP) located west of the Gulf of Gdañsk. The research objects were boulders protected as natural monuments (66 erratics) and all boulders with long axis ³ 50 cm within two testing areas (1100 erratics). Results show that erratics of the TLP often occur in clusters and their spatial density is even near 300 items/km2 in some areas. The authors selected 44 boulders which may be interesting research objects and/or have high values for geotourism. Nine erratics reveal features potentially suitable for the terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides (TCN) dating. Moreover, high number of boulders in the TLP area gives the possibility for investigations of the directions of glacial paleo-transport based on indicator erratics and analysis of glacial striae. Distinctive zones of significant clusters of boulders characterised by high attractiveness and diversified values were also indicated.

The biggest erratic block in Wielkopolska (St. Hedwig Rock) is located in situ is south-east part of the region. This indicator erratic, Smaland granite, was transported onto Polish Lowland around 18,8 ka BP. Because of its size the rock is protected by law. Although its scientific, didactic and geotouristic values have been described by the Polish Geological Institute as the highest, the inhabitants of adjacent cities have little awareness of natural heritage in the region.

Występujące w cokole neogotyckiego, z początku XX w., kościoła w Garbowie koło Lublina, duże starannie obrobione bloki różnobarwnych i o zróżnicowanej strukturze skał krystalicznych są efektem obróbki głazów narzutowych z obrębu Niziny Lubartowskiej. Wykorzystanie takiej ilości dużych głazów spowodowało nieodwracalne zmiany w polodowcowym krajobrazie tej części Lubelszczyzny. ślady pozyskiwania i wstępnej obróbki głazów znajdowane są w odległości do 20 km od kościoła, pokrywającej się z historycznymi granicami parafii. Bloki skalne, starannie dopracowane i boniowane, w znacznej części są sygnowane inicjałami kamieniarzy, którzy stanowili zapewne warsztat "szkoły mularzy" Józefa Piusa Dziekońskiego, architekta i w znacznej części wykonawcy kościoła.

Occurring in pedestal of neogothic church in Garbów near Lublin, which is from the beginning of XX centaury, the large carefully treated variegated blocks, which are also of diverse stone structure, are results of erratic boulders machining from Lubartów Lowland region. Make full use in a so high scale of big boulders effects in non-reversible changes in that part of postglacial Lublin region landscape. The exploiting traces and initial machining of boulders be present far up to 20 km from the church, what is an overlap with historical parish borders. Stone blocks are scrupulous worked out and rusticated. Many of them are signed with stone mason initials, who form a workshop team - Józef Pius Dziekoński "masonry school" - architect and contractor of the church.
