Currently, the design of garment styles is weakly supporting the MWD concept. It is kept fixed during all its very changeable manufacturing process, thereby increasing pre- and post-consumer fabric wastes. To improve the situation the final values of construction parameters which influence fabric use efficiency should be determined for every unique production order only in the garment manufacturing process. Four garment styles were tested to see how light changes in their width and length influence fabric use efficiency. Even minimal reduction of these parameters can give noticeable fabric savings. Different values of these parameters create slightly different shapes of pattern pieces, and with it, give a huge number of new possibilities to create more efficient production markers. The authors found a way how to make the garment designing process more efficient, as well as, to create a “virtual bridge” between garment designing and the manufacturing phase. Both improvements could give serious benefits: reduced fabric use and product price, as well as, reduced pre- and post-consumer textile material wastes.

This paper presents one of the environmental problems occurring during underground mine closures: according to the underground coal mine closure programme in Germany, the behaviour of the land surface caused by flooding of the entire planned mining area – the Ruhr District – had to be addressed. It was highlighted that water drainage would need to be continuous; otherwise, water levels would rise again in the mining areas, resulting in flooding of currently highly urbanised zones. Based on the variant analysis, it was concluded that the expected uniform ground movements caused by the planned rise in the mining water levels (comprising a part of two concepts – flooding up to the level of –500 m a.s.l. and −600 m a.s.l.), in the RAG Aktiengesellschaft mines, will not result in new mining damage to traditional buildings. The analysis included calculations of the maximum land surface uplift and the most unfavourable deformation factor values on the land surface, important from the point of view of buildings and structures: tilt T, compressive strain ε– and tensile strain ε+. The impact of flooding on potential, discontinuous land surface deformation was also analysed.

The aim of the paper was to evaluate and compare respondents' views from eastern Slovakia on selected environmental issues from a generational perspective. The study used an online question-naire survey to collect the data. According to the results, each generation views the severity of environ-mental problems differently, with Generation Y placing the highest priority on them and the Baby Boomers placing the lowest. Based on the performed statistical testing, we can confirm a statistically significant difference between individual generations of respondents on the question of the Covid-19 pandemic's positive impact on the environment, but no statistically significant difference between individual generations of respondents on whether they think waste sorting and recycling reduces the amount of waste deposited in landfills or whether they think waste sorting and recycling increases the amount of waste deposited in landfills.

Celem artykułu była ocena i porównanie poglądów respondentów ze wschodniej Słowacji na wybrane zagadnienia środowiskowe z perspektywy pokoleniowej. W badaniu wykorzystano ankietę internetową do zebrania danych. Zgodnie z wynikami, każde pokolenie inaczej postrzega powagę problemów środowiskowych, przy czym pokolenie Y stawia im najwyższy priorytet, a Baby Boomers najniższy.
