Exposure to ambient gaseous components is a significant issue for people’s health. This study aims to check the modification effect of seasonal temperature variation on the association of ambient air pollutants in the selected traffic crossroads in Baghdad city. The study continued for around 180 calendar days from the winter of 2020 to the summer of 2021; during this period, seven major gaseous parameters, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), sulfur di-oxide (SO2), and ground ozone (O3), were tested via using the devices of GIG6 and GIG2. The results showed that the high temperature significantly affected the dispersion of air pollutants, whereas the increase in air temperature from 10 °C to 48 °C led to an increase in the concentration of H2S about ten times, and an increase in emission of CO around three times, while there are varying increases for the rest of the other air pollutants.

Autorzy starają się odpowiedzieć na pytanie jakie są mechanizmy blokowania inwestycji. W Polsce działa świetnie zorganizowana siatka „zielonych aktywistów", dla których tzw. „przedmioty i cele ochrony Natura 2000" są jedynie narzędziem oddziaływania na inwestorów, a nie przedmiotem troski o stan środowiska. Autorzy proponują dokonać przeglądu obowiązujących przepisów prawa i zmienić nieprecyzyjną ustawę OOŚ. Wnioskują stworzenie systemu informacji o środowisku i jego ochronie, pozwalającego w sposób jasny i mierzalny wykazać brak znaczącego oddziaływania na środowisko lub skalę znaczącego oddziaływania.

The authors attempt to answer the question on what are the investment-blocking mechanisms. In Poland, there is a perfectly organized network of "green activists" for whom the so-called “Natura 2000 sites and protection objectives" are nothing more than a tool of exercising pressure on the investors and not an object of concern for the natural environment. The authors propose to make a review of the regulations in force and amend the unprecise act on the environmental impact assessment. They conclude by proposing creation of a system of information on the environment and its protection, allowing to clearly and measurably prove the lack of significant impact on the environment or the scale of significant impact.

W pracy przedstawiono strukturę przepisów ochrony środowiska przed emisją cząstek stałych w aspekcie ruchu samochodowego w Unii Europejskiej i w Polsce. Przepisy UE w zakresie ochrony powietrza są obecnie zintegrowane w dyrektywie 2008/50/WE (Clean Air For Europe - CAFE). W Polsce obowiązuje ustawa „Prawo ochrony środowiska” z dnia 27 kwietnia 2001 r. oraz akty wykonawcze do tej ustawy w postaci rozporządzeń Ministra Środowiska.

The paper presents the structure of environmental legislation against particulate matter emissions in terms of traffic in the European Union and Poland. EU legislation in the range of air protection are now integrated in Directive 2008/50/EC (Clean Air for Europe - CAFE). In Poland, spaces the Act "Environmental Protection Law" dated 27 April 2001 and executive acts to this Act in the form of regulations of the Minister of the Environment.

Disposal of wool scouring sludge is becoming more problematical, due to the need to satisfy environmental legislation concerning what is regarded as hazardous waste, and to the increasing cost of landfill and the scarcity of landfill sites. Composting the sludge to produce a safe, saleable product could be a viable alternative.
