Prothyron from the Villa of Theseus in Nea Paphos, Cyprus

The aim of the paper is to present a reconstruction of a monumental gate leading to the Villa of Theseus, a Roman palace in Nea Paphos on Cyprus. During the excavations carried out near the main entrance to the residence, a set of several fragments of architectural decoration was discovered, including pieces of columns and cornices. The analysis of the architectural decoration, relics of the entrance to the palace in situ and analogies from the Roman residences made it possible to propose a reconstruction of the monumental gate leading to the compound entrance complex of the palace. It was probably designed in the form of a wide door preceded by a two-column porch crowned with a triangular pediment with a tympanum: a form that Vitruvius called a prothyron.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie rekonstrukcji monumentalnej bramy prowadzącej do Willi Tezeusza, rzymskiego pałacu znajdującego się w Nea Pafos na Cyprze. Podczas wykopalisk prowadzonych w pobliżu głównego wejścia do rezydencji odkryto zestaw fragmentów detalu architektonicznego, m.in. kolumn oraz gzymsu. Analiza dekoracji architektonicznej, reliktów wejścia do pałacu in situ oraz analogicznych rozwiązań stosowanych w rezydencjach rzymskich pozwoliła zaproponować rekonstrukcję monumentalnej bramy prowadzącej do złożonego kompleksu wejściowego pałacu. Prawdopodobnie zaprojektowano ją w postaci szerokich drzwi poprzedzonych dwukolumnowym portykiem zwieńczonym trójkątnym naczółkiem z tympanonem. Jest to forma, którą Witruwiusz nazwał prothyron.

The paper analyses potential applications of modern car transport on farms with area over 20 ha agricultural land (AL). A vast majority of farms are capable of using transport by means of truck with load capacity between 8 and 10 tons. The greatest difficulty is a possibility of performing a safe 360°turn. In this respect only 45.90% of farms have this option, however their percentage is growing with increasing farm area. On the other hand, in case of on average 21.31% of the analyzed farms the entrance may be hindered at some times due to the access from a field track. The width of the entrance gate and the culvert bridge bearing capacity (in 8.20% it was too low) have only slight influence on the discussed issues.

Za wstęp do parku narodowego lub na jego oznaczoną część mogą być pobierane opłaty. Wykaz tych parków (ich oznaczonych części) określa rozporządzenie Ministra Środowiska. Ustawa przewiduje zwolnienia z obowiązku wnoszenia wspomnianych opłat bądź ich obniżkę. Opłaty te nie są rodzajem daniny publicznej i mają charakter ceny za wstęp na cudze nieruchomości.

Entrance fees may be charged for entering a national park or its defined area. A list of the parks (and their defined areas) has been specified by the Minister of Environment. The act assumes exemptions from the obligation of paying the entrance fees or their reduction. These fees are not a type of a public levy, their character is rather of a price for entering somebody's property.
