Purpose: The implementation effort of ethics involves actively entering the current discourse on new technologies, enhancing their credibility and minimizing ethical risks. Ethics can play an important role in enhancing their credibility. Design/methodology/approach: The case method and its application can play an important role in this area. Case studies should not only be the result of specific research and their design but also take into account the current methodological requirements of applied ethics. By presenting a case study, we try to express the optimal variant of a case study and the application of these requirements. Findings: We will try to point towards the establishment and development of the discourse of ethics and new technologies as well as the increasing potential of applied ethics and its constructive role in resolving ethically dilemmatic situations and creating preventive mechanisms for potential ethical failure. Originality/value: The principles of utility minimisation and utility maximisation will trouble us for a long time to come as we introduce them into AI technologies. From this we can see that there will be mainly two dominant ethical theories - utilitarianism with the norm of minimizing the loss of life, health, suffering and deontological ethical theory with the ethical norm concerning the protection of the car passengers, their life. Personally, we would add the ethics of responsibility, which ethicists and lawyers will have to deal with because of not only material responsibility but also, say, loss of life. Here we can be partly inspired by the debate and conclusions on animal ethics.

The issue of innovation has also been pursued in social sciences and subsequently specifically in the field of application of socio-scientific knowledge. It is not just about professional engineering ethics but we perceive it in a complex and wider social context. Doing good as well as good practice are more than the professional code of ethics or an effort for technical or managerial excellence. Innovative changes should not be parameterized solely by economic efficiency or performance. With regard to new knowledge and technology development, their ethical aspects become more important and focus more on good life. In the context of social sciences with interdisciplinary trends, applied ethics and its subdisciplines (professional ethics, business ethics, ethics of science and research) can take over and play an important practical role. Innovative processes are increasingly becoming the focus of applied ethics, especially in terms of ethical risks. Our mission is to offer an interdisciplinary view of innovation as discussed in the ethics aspect. Based on these considerations, we conclude that ethics need to be integrated into individual innovation processes and adopted as an important condition for eliminating (mitigating) social risks. In our theoretical considerations we offer a view of the scientific risks and forms of prevention related to innovative change in important areas including engineering practice or health protection.

Up to now, the question of quality was based on two factors - technical and organizational. In my work that question has been extended. The third factor is organizational culture based on the engineering ethics. The technical aspects are: safety, reliability and durability. The culture of an organization is made up of the shared beliefs about how business is conducted, how employees are treated and how they behave. Quality appears to be a good business. Quality is also good ethics, because it brings customer's utility and satisfaction. My thesis is: engineer ethics and employees ' morale are major factors, except the technical, to built quality and ensure technical quality products and services. If quality is profitable, then the output of the ethics 'is a profitable too. Why engineers? Because they are usually managers in a technical organization. Ethical culture in an organization is based on the engineer's value. Their attitudes have influence on the employees' attitudes. Therefore engineering ethics is so important. In ethical culture all actions are based on trust, commitment and teamwork. Quality system, for example ISO 9000 and TQM, requires this support to achieve high effects. I used the outputs of my research in one of IT organization. I made a model of ethical program, which helps quality. Implementing an ethical program means creating a new: mission, vision, training and audit. Concluding the theoretical and empirical part of my work, I can say: the benefits of ethics and its output - quality, are: to increase market share, decrease costs, improve delivery and productivity, and reduce waste. Achieving this, requires a company-wide improvement of engineering ethics.
