The problem of obtaining complete and accurate information for the skipper is crucial in making the right decisions to ensure safe navigation. Subject of study in this paper is the effectiveness of incurring way navigational watch with a wide variety of navigation equipment at the bridge. The authors demonstrate the benefits of integrated use of satellite & GIS technologies on ships to various options of using other electronic navigation systems.

W artykule analizowano problem konwersji elektronicznej mapy nawigacyjnej w standardzie S-57 do postaci umożliwiającej wprowadzenie oraz szybką analizę i wykorzystanie informacji zawartych na mapie w nawigacyjnym systemie wspomagania decyzji. Do rozwiązania problemu zaproponowano rekurencyjny algorytm dyskretyzujący wykorzystujący drzewa ćwiartek. Przedstawiono jego właściwości oraz wymagania. Zaprezentowano metodykę postępowania w procesie dyskretyzacji obszaru. W oparciu opracowany algorytm przeprowadzono eksperyment, przedstawiono wyniki.

This article analyzes the problem of converting an S-57 standard electronic chart to the form enabling the insertion and quick analysis and use of information contained on the chart of a navigational decision support system. The problem is tackled by the application of a recurrent discretizing algorithm making use of quad trees. The properties and requirements of the algorithm are discussed along with the methodology adopted in the process of area discretization. The results of an experiment based on the developed algorithm are presented.
