Electrochemical investigation were carried out in the two geothermal plants exploiting low and high mineralizated water (Geotermia Podhalańska and Geotermia Stargard). Investigation embraces monitoring of steels and alloys rate of corrosion based on linear polarisation resistance method (LPR), electrochemical polarisation measurements using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) as well as technique of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Electrochemical properties of water (pH and Eh) were also measured. On the basis of LPR method the influence of chromium on corrosion rate was established. It was also determinated that rate of corrosion on the level of 0.05 mm/year is reached when the Cr content in steel is higher than 5%. LSV mesasurement indicated slowdown of the anodic dissolution rate and increase of breakdown potential as effect of enrichment of the corrosion product layer in chromium. Comparision of various types of the electrochemical investigations indicates that salination of the geothermal water is minor factor in the corrosion of steels.

Successful trial was conducted of synthesis of two new bi-intercalation compounds: ZnCl2-FeCl3-fiZG and ZnCl(2)-FeCl(3)-H(2)SO(4)-BZG. ZnCl(3)-IZG with intercalation stage n = 5 was selected as initial compound, characterised by a great admixture of a pure graphite phase. Synthesis of ZnCl(2) was conducted in 4,8 M, solution of FeCl(3) in nitro-methane. The method of X-ray diffraction analysis served for determination of the structure of the originated compound.

Przeprowadzono udaną próbę syntezy dwóch nowych związków bi-interkalacyjnych: ZnCl(2)-FeCl(3)-BZG oraz ZnCl(2)-FeCl(3)-H(2)SO(4)-BZG. Jako związek wyjściowy wybrano ZnCl(2)-IZG o stadium interkalacji n = 5, charakteryzujący się dużą domieszką fazy czystego grafitu. Syntezę ZnCl(2)-FeCl(3)-BZG prowadzono w 4,8 M roztworze FeCl(3) w nitro-metanie. Metoda dyfrakcyjnej analizy rentgenowskiej posłużyła do określenia struktury powstałego związku.

Surfaces of titanium samples were modified by methods which are commonly used with implants. The specimen-surfaces have been investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), surface profiling and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results of EIS correlate - for simple equivalent circuits - to results of surface-profile measurement. To interpret complex circuits in a meaningful manner, further systematic investigations will be necessary at pre-defined structures and layers.

A new series of Co(II) complexes of salicylideneamino acids with imidazole or substituted imidazole has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measurements, electronic and IR spectra. The complexes are six coordinate with the general formula [Co(sal:aa)(B)(H(2)0)(2)]. The salicylidene-amino acid ligand acts as a divalent tridentate Schiff base, where the imidazole or substituted imidazole acts as a monodentate ligand. The structure of the complexes is suggested to be octahedral. The cyclic voltammetric studies of the subject complexes were performed in 0.1 mol dm3 KCl. The data indicate that the reduction proceeds via an Erev Erev Cirr mechanism giving rise to a single diffusion-controlled irreversible two-electron cyclic voltammetric wave.
