(Eco)Ethical Issues in Organizations Including Healthcare Facilities

Ethics issues are present in the daily life of every human being. This paper presents an overview of difficult, yet everyday ethics dilemmas, and general rules and tools helping in making ethical choices. These tools are: distinguishing facts from values, reasoning from principles, defining terms and clarifying concepts, comparing cases, thought experiments, logic, and recognizing and avoiding errors in reasoning. But ethical issues also appear on a bigger scale in every social group, including organizations. The paper contains a literature review and an analysis of it applied to the present day. The analysis includes topics of medical ethics, business ethics and ecoethics, and was conducted according to the basic tools used in ethical problem solving. There are also discussions about a key condition for performing ethical analysis, that is, the distinction between ethics and morality. An ethical solution is dictated by logical principles and based on facts, while respecting the tools of ethical reasoning. In contrast, accepted values are also taken into account when interpreting events morally.

Dyskutuje się perspektywy realizacji strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju. Wskazuje się na błędy współczesnej cywilizacji, przede wszystkim na błąd ekonomizmu i konsumizmu, oraz na zbyt wąskie rozumienie wyznaczników postępu. Przebudowa świadomości człowieka na wzór człowieka ekologicznego jest warunkiem koniecznym zrównoważonego rozwoju i właściwego wykorzystania postępu technologicznego.

Prospects of the implementation of strategies of the sustainable development are being discussed. They are pointed out the mistakes of the contemporary civilization, above all the mistakes of economism and consumism as well as the narrow understanding of progress determinants. The reconstruction of the awareness of the man following the example of the ecological man is a necessary condition of the sustainable development and due using the technological progress.

Przedmiotem rozważań są czynione w obrębie ekofilozofii analizy związane z próbą przezwyciężenia kryzysu ekologicznego. Ze szczególną uwagą potraktowano wpływ antro-pocentrycznej koncepcji człowieka na kształtowanie negatywnie ocenianych postaw ludzi wobec środowiska naturalnego. Omówiono również próby przezwyciężenia tych postaw przez zwrócenie się ku holistycznej interpretacji człowieka i świata. Interpretacja ta ma swoje odzwierciedlenie w powstawaniu ekoetyki (etyki środowiskowej), różnej od etyki tradycyjnej.

An essey describes philosopher's reflections of the philosphy of analysis on the field ecological problems, first of all the anthropocentric point of view in shaping negative atti-tudes to natural environment. The author suggest the way to change the situation is to pay much morę attention to holistic interpretation of a mań an his universe. This interpretation gave way to creating new ethics and environmetal ethic.

W filozofii techniki toczy się spór o skutki rozwoju i zastosowań współczesnej techniki dla biosfery, jednostki ludzkiej i w życiu społecznym. Wielu autorów, analizując przyczyny nadciągającej katastrofy ekologicznej, dopatruje się ich w antropocentrycznym nastawieniu ludzkiego działania, charakterystycznym - jak twierdzą - dla współczesnej cywilizacji technicznej. Jako remedium proponują nową etykę, etykę odpowiedzialności (H. Jonas). Autorzy artykułu uzasadniają pogląd, że koncepcja H. Jonasa, znajdująca obecnie odzwierciedlenie w próbach opracowania etyki środowiskowej, jest w istocie krytyką antropocentryzmu dokonaną z antropocentrycznego punktu odniesienia.

There is an argue on the field of philosophy of techniques dealing with the results of development to biosphere, human individual and social life. Many authors think that anthropocentric roots of human activity characteristic to modern technical civilisation can cause a potential catastrophe. As a remedy a new ethic of responsibility (H. Jonas) is suggested. Authors suggest that Jonas' conception (mirrored in new environmental ethics) is indeed a critical view at anthropocentrism but made from the anthropocentric stand.
