As an island nation, the topic of training and sending out seafarers is a present challenge in Japan. Awareness activities for elementary, junior high, and senior high school students are essential for securing future mariner job candidates. In this study, we conducted maritime and marine educational methods using various procedures to raise awareness about previous maritime industries. We also brought in maritime specialists for junior high school students who will be continuing to maritime educational institutions, and conducted a comparative study of the results. In this study, we compared three types of educational content: lectures on leadership techniques, observational field trips, and hands-on lessons. The results showed that students had the highest interest in the hands-on lessons, followed by observational field trips, then finally the lectures. These results demonstrated that when creating class content for maritime and marine education, this should be adapted to the identity of the young people who are to receive that education.

W artykule zaprezentowano projekt Module Close-to; opisano jego realizację i wyniki. Projekt ten w efekcie końcowym ma stworzyć warunki do ujednolicenia systemu szkolenia kierowców w Europie poprzez wprowadzenie do szkolenia kierowców nowego modułu edukacyjnego. Polega on na realizacji podczas szkolenia kierowców metody edukacyjnej zwanej peer-to-peer (rówieśnik relacjonuje problem rówieśnikowi). W szkoleniu kierowców - uczestnicy kursów na prawo jazdy konfrontowani są ze sprawcami wypadków drogowych (rówieśnikami uczestników kursu) i ich historiami, co ma doprowadzić do pozytywnych zmian w postawach i zachowaniach młodych, początkujących kierowców, a tym samym doprowadzić do trwałej redukcji liczby wypadków drogowych i ich ofiar. Badania wstępne potwierdziły, że zajęcia z udziałem sprawcy wypadku mają pozytywny wpływ na kształtowanie się odpowiednich postaw u młodych kierowców. Dyskusja koncentrująca się na osobie sprawcy, na jego skłonnościach do ryzykownych zachowań, okolicznościach wypadku, konfrontacji z konsekwencjami, odbywaniem zasądzonej kary robi wrażenie na młodych uczestnikach kursów. Projekt polegał na przeprowadzeniu pilotażowych zajęć w ośrodkach szkolenia kierowców w ramach szkolenia kierowców z udziałem sprawców wypadków drogowych i dokonaniu oceny ich wpływu na osoby biorące w nich udział.

The article presents Module Close-to project; description of its realisation and results. This project, in its final effect, is to create conditions to unification of the drivers training system in Europe, by introducing new educational module to the drivers training. It relies on implementing, during the drivers training, the educational method called peer-to-peer (equal age groups relate the problem to each other). During the drivers training – the participants of the driving licence courses are confronted with the road accidents offenders (of similar age) and their stories, which is to bring them to positive changes in their attitudes and behaviours of the young, beginner drivers. Thus, to lead to a lasting reduction of the number of road accidents and their victims. Initial studies confirmed that sessions with the accident offender have a positive influence on forming attitudes of young drivers. Discussion concentrating on the offender, his inclination to a risky behaviour, circumstances of the accident, confrontation with the consequences and serving the sentence has a lasting effect on the young participants of the courses. Project relied on conducting pilot sessions in the driver training centres (OSK) as part of the drivers training with participation of the road accident offenders and evaluating their influence on the persons taking part in them.
