The article presents methodical aspects of vegetation state assessment with ecological and biotopie evaluation of vegetation preconditioning in suburban zone on the example o f ecophysiographic study for Raszynka catchment area up to Dawidy profile. The area is characterized by agrarian landscape with environmentally disadvantageous land use. Arabie lands dominate in almost entire area, whereas forests and meadows cover very smali part. For several years, surface of settlement area have been inereasing at the cost of fields. At the basis of existing and potential vegetation maps high spatial plant communities diversification have been shown. The highest vegetation structure complexity and the lowest transformation level have been observed for forests on dunes in the south part of the catchment area as well as for plantings and meadows in the Raszynka valley. The plan communities are sensitive for antropopressure. Nevertheless, there are conditions to modify the existing communities, which can help to introduce positive changes in environment and landscape of the Raszynka catchment area.

In the article, authors presents an example of delimitation methods of elementary homogeneous spatial units which influence small water circle (in local scale) in Raszynka catchment area up to Dawidy profile. The units are called in ecophysiography: phisiotops, geomorphotops and morphotops. They are identified according to homogeneity of environmental components or system of several components. Physiotops are identified according to lithology of river catchment surface, geomorphotops - according to processes of surface shaping, morphotops - topographic profile. Aggregation of the selected units lead to identification of following higherlevel units called geohydrotops that can be useful for spatial planning.

Spatial planning is one of the most important tools to implement principles of sustainable development. The ecophysiographic study is a new and potentially significant element of the Polish spatial planning system introduced in the lst of January 2001. The main role of the study is to give a planner wide environmental background for works on spatial management plans. The article presents principles, rules, instruments and indicators of sustainable development that can be put into practice by ecophysiographic studiem.
