Salt is a basic food commodity. Among different kinds of salt, the sea salt obtained via seawater evaporation in salterns located in the coastal zone is very important. Unfortunately, the coastal zone experiences strong anthropogenic pressure connected with leaking of pollutions from agricultural and household activities into the seawater. The aim of this paper was to present selected problems connected with sea salt acquisition and factors influencing its quality. The paper enumerates sea water pollutants, paying particular attention to the problem of novel pollutants, such as micro- and nanoplastic fibres. Additional factor influencing sea salt quality is the climate change due to its destructive activities in the coastal zones that host the salterns.

Sól należy do podstawowych produktów spożywczych. Wśród różnych rodzajów soli duże znaczenie ma sól morska pozyskiwana w wyniku odparowania wody morskiej w salinach znajdujących się w strefie nadbrzeżnej. Niestety strefa nadbrzeżna podlega silnej antropopresji związanej z przedostawaniem się do wód morskich zanieczyszczeń z działalności rolniczej i bytowej człowieka. Celem artykułu było przedstawienie niektórych problemów związanych z pozyskiwaniem soli morskiej i czynnikami wpływającymi na kształtowanie jej jakości. W artykule przedstawiono zanieczyszczenia występujące w soli morskiej, w tym zwrócono szczególną uwagę na problem nowych zanieczyszczeń jak włókna mikro- i nanoplastików. Dodatkowym czynnikiem wpływającym na jakość soli morskiej są zmiany klimatyczne, z uwagi na niszczące działania w strefie nadbrzeżnej, w której znajdują się saliny.

Encyklika Papieża Franciszka to ważny dokument w debacie na temat wody. W artykule przedstawiono ekologiczny obraz naszej planety, w tym kwestię wody, która została uznana za sprawę najważniejszej wagi na świecie. Dlatego encyklika stanowi ważne wydarzenie w debacie, jaką rolę winna odgrywać krajowa gospodarka wodna. Jest to szczególnie istotne gdy część świata, w tym Polskę, nawiedziła susza powodująca nieodwracalne straty i klęskę w rolnictwie, która może pociągnąć za sobą, przy niesprzyjających warunkach, klęskę w całej gospodarce. Stany wód krajowych osiągają minima historyczne. Konieczne są krótko- i długofalowe działania zmniejszające skutki suszy, w tym m.in. zwiększające retencję, wprowadzające oszczędność i odnowę wody. Musimy zweryfikować naszą krajową politykę ekologiczną i wodną.

The encyclical issued by Pope Francesco is an important document in the global debate on water. The paper presents ecological image of our planet, including the issue of water considered as the most important problem in the world. Therefore, the encyclical constitutes an important element of the debate on what should be the national water management. It is particularly important in a situation where part of the world, including Poland, suffered drought causing irreversible damage and disaster for agriculture which, in unfavourable conditions, could entail a disaster for the entire economy. Water levels achieve their historical minimum. We need short- and long-term actions mitigating the results of the drought, including, inter alia, those increasing retention, introducing water saving and renovation. We have to revise our national ecological and water policy.

This paper presents final results of E!2968 EUREKA – ECOLOGICAL DOCK project sponsored by the Polish State Scientific Research Committee. The consortium established for realization of the project is presented, ecological hazards are characterized, the most important legal regulations are specified, as well the design of the ecological floating dock SINE 212CD and a concept of conversion of the existing dock SINE 126CD to the class CLEAN is characterized. The paper also contains the complete bibliography of the elaborations done within the project. More information can be found on the web page www. oce.pg.gda.pl/oce2/eureka . This paper opens the series of the selected publications on various problems solved in the frame of the project, which are presented below.

W ostatnich latach znacznie wzrosło zaniepokojenie społeczeństwa stanem naszego środowiska naturalnego. Obecnie, niezależnie od tego czy zagrożenia środowiskowe dotyczą nas na szczeblu lokalnym, krajowym czy globalnym, nastąpił znaczny wzrost obaw wśród społeczeństw o stan środowiska naturalnego człowieka. W artykule przedstawiono porównanie stanu ochrony środo-wiska naturalnego na terenach po przemysłowych dokonane w Australii w Stanie Nowej Południowej Walii z terenami Górnego Śląska. Artykuł ten zawiera studia nad wpływem rozwoju przemysłowego na globalne zanieczyszczenie środowiska naturalnego człowieka, a także porównanie głównych problemów środowiskowych i ich odniesienie do wybranych okręgów przemysłowych Polski i Australii.

Recent years have seen a' considerable deterioration of natural environment, especially in industrialised regions, on a worldwide scale. Notably, this has been evidenced in post-communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia, etc. The closing of bigger, unprofitable industrial plants is gradually taking place, which, apart from unemployment in these regions, creates large ecological problems that are connected with the necessity of their reclaiming. The rehabilitation of the coal industry has created environmental problems that are connected with the degradation of Polish towns, under which mining exploitation and slagheap reclamation was carried out. Similar problems that are connected with the degradation of the natural environment can also be found in the areas of steel industry exploitation. Ali the above-mentioned problems are also noticeable, although on a much smaller scale, throughout Australia. The elaboration in this work includes currentenvironmental challenge s with the major emphasis being placed on issues relevant to Australia and Poland.
