The development of our civilization and increasing noise pollution are strongly connected. In 2021, the Tatra National Park was visited by a record number of tourists - about 4 million 600 thousand. The previous record was broken in 2018 - then the Polish Tatra Mountains were visited by 3 million 800 thousand. people. The aim of the paper is the analysis of noise pollution and soundscape of the most popular national park in Poland - Tatra National Park. The Koscieliska Valley was selected for the study, because it is the second area in the park in terms of the number of tickets sold according to the statistics kept by the Tatra National Park. The paper presents the results of the analysis of acoustic measurements and ambisonic recordings made during four seasons using classical method and the soundscape method. In addition, psychoacoustic parameters and soundecology indicators such as: loudness, sharpness or roughness, ACI (acoustic complexity index), NDSI (normalized difference soundscape index), BIO (bioacoustic index), ADI (acoustic diversity index), AEI (acoustic evenness index) were calculated.

The issue of acoustics is still underappreciated both in interior design in public utility facilities and in urbanized spaces. As noise pollution is on the rise, acoustic ecology is a vital part of responsible urban planning. The article explores the issue of sound in an open space in terms of noise protec tion, but its primary goal is to discuss it in the context of shaping a soundscape consciously. Finally, the article points out that it is crucial to protect soundscape as cultural heritage.

Problematyka akustyki jest wciąż niedoceniana zarówno, jeżeli chodzi o projektowanie wnętrz w budynkach użyteczności publicznej jak również w przypadku przestrzeni zurbanizowanych. Ze względu na rosnące oddziaływanie hałasu ekologia akustyczna jest istotnym zagadnieniem odpowiedzialnej urbanizacji. W artykule podjęto problematykę dźwięku w przestrzeni otwartej, w kontekście nie tylko ochrony przed hałasem, ale przede wszystkim świadomego kształtowania krajobrazu dźwiękowego. Ważna jest ochrona krajobrazu dźwiękowego, który stanowi niewątpliwe dziedzictwo kultury.

The paper discusses the research areas which are placed in the modern science on the borderline between ecology and acoustics. It is explained what ideas are included in the concepts of bioacoustics, acoustic ecology, ecoacoustics, and soundscape ecology. The results obtained in these domains are compared with those received in vibroacoustic research presented at the Polish WIBROTECH conference cycle. The paper suggests an inventory of research topics connected with acoustics and ecology. In the second part of the paper the author presents the possibilities of ambisonic technology of recording and listening to sounds for the analysis in bioacoustic research.
