Identification of e-learning services in higher education

The main purpose of this paper is to present the problem, identify goals and discuss higher education e-learning services. The basis for the discussion is the development of process approach to measuring operational efficiency and improving the quality of services. The paper presents various perspectives on e-learning and definitions of service efficiency. For the sake of service identification, one of the most common business processes classification, i.e. APQC Process Classification Framework, was employed. According to the approach suggested by the APQC in the article, there are two groups of processes. The first group consists of the operating processes of e-learning, and the second one - of management and support processes. Another section illustrates the example of e-exam service business model presented with the use of the map of business processes. It also sets out the assumptions and results of time simulation of e-exam service. The summary presents conclusions and suggested directions for further research.

W artykule omówiono usługi związane z e-learningiem dostępne w Polsce i na świecie, m.in. outsourcing platform LMS i udostępniania e-kursów, tworzenie kursów na zamówienie, obsługa procesów szkoleniowych - telementorstwo, teletutoring, hosting platformy szkoleniowej i kursów. Wymieniono standardy systemów e-leamingowych, do których należą systemy: LMS, LCMS, LCS. Zaprezentowano usługi realizowane z wykorzystaniem e-learningu - wirtualne studia, targi internetowe, gry strategiczne pełniące rolę szkoleń, usługi oferowane w modelu ASP. Przedstawiono analizę zawartości witryn internetowych największych firm oferujących usługi e-learningu oraz wybrane źródła internetowe z zakresu elektronicznej edukacji. W zakończeniu referatu przedstawiono kierunki rozwoju potrzeb, rozwiązań i usług w zakresie e-learningu. Zwrócono uwagę na nowe usługi sieciowe (webcast, web services) dostępne dla systemów e-learningowych oraz metody oceny jakości kursów elektronicznych.

The paper discusses services relating to e-learning available in Poland and all around the world, e.g. outsourcing LMS platform and e-courses availability platform, creating courses on commissions, operation of training processes - teletutoring, hosting of a training platform and courses. The article also enumerates standards of e-learning systems, such as LMS, LCMS, LCS systems. It presents services rendered with the application of e-learning - virtual studies, Internet fairs, strategie games fulfilling the role of trainings, services offered in the ASP model. It depicts an analysis of the contents of websites maintained by the largest companies offering e-learning services and selected Internet sources from the scope of digital education. The final section of the paper presents the directions for the development of needs, solutions and services in the scope of e-learning. Attention is paid to new network services (webcast, web services) available for e-learning systems and methods for the quality assessment of digital courses.
