Economic Assessment of Investment in Electric Buses and CNG Buses – A Case Study of a Public Transport Company

The article deals with green investment focused on urban public transport. This work presents a holistic approach to evaluating investments in electric and CNG buses, i.e., the economic efficiency assessment, including the risk aspect. The investment project is assessed in terms of the source of funding and risk factors affecting the profitability of the project. A non-repayable subsidy from the European Social Fund in the amount of 0%, 25%, 50% and 90% of investment costs is considered. Economic efficiency is assessed in terms of profitability through the financial criterion Net Present Value (NPV) and risk using mean NPV and standard deviation. The result of the evaluation of the variants of the investment project is that the investment project without the support of non-repayable resources is loss-making. With a low level of financial support, it is more economical to procure CNG buses. With a higher level of financial support, investments in electric buses are more profitable, due to lower operating costs

Nawiązując do rządowych planów rozwoju elektromobilności, zakładających między innymi wprowadzenie na szeroką skalę do komunikacji publicznej autobusów elektrycznych, autor opisuje, jak z tym zagadnieniem radzą sobie samorządy gminne z terenu województwa śląskiego.

Referring to the governmental plans for electromobility development, assuming among other things the introduction on a large scale of electrical buses to the public transport, the author describes, how municipal local governments from the Silesian Voivodeship cope.

Artykuł opisuje możliwości reorganizacji transportu zbiorowego poprzez zastosowani e–autobusów w Szczecińskim Obszarze Metropolitarnym. Przedstawiono ten nowy kierunek rozwoju komunikacji miejskiej jego zalety oraz perspektywy. Opierając się na faktycznych danych z różnych obszarów Europy Zachodniej autor przekonuje o słuszności tej koncepcji. Omówiono wady i zalety różnych systemów oraz opcje i możliwości na które trzeba zwrócić uwagę przy zakupie.

This article describes the possibilities of reorganizing collective transport through the use of e-buses in Szczecin Metropolitan Area. This new direction of urban transport has been presented in its advantages and prospects. Based on the actual data from various areas of Western Europe, the author argues for the validity of this concept. The advantages and disadvantages of different systems are discussed, as well as the options and possibilities that should be considered when purchasing.
